Default Which bow, lol Need help from Ya'll.

Hey ya'll. Here's the sticky. My mom's husband (stepfather)(Tim) wants to buy his one son (Tom) a bow for Christmas. His son is in his early 30's and has never bowhunted. Tim called me and has no idea what to get him. He wants to order it from Cabelas so I am going through the catalog now and there's some decent bows there for a beginner. I was given a budget to adhere to. That budget is $300 so I'm looking at the packages. These are the ones I'm looking at and want to know your opinions as well. Remember, I have pretty much a full pro shop in my basement and will be setting them up myself and feel I shouldn't have any problem getting any of them to shoot perfectly. The need to send him into a pro shop is not a concern.

Okay, here's the list in no particular oder.

Parker Buckshot Outfitter package.
6" Brace
32" ATA

Reflex Excursion
8.5 brace
34.5" ATA
IBO 295

Fred Bear Odyssey
5.25" Brace
31 ata

PSE Nova
7" brace
39 ata
293 fps

That's about all of them in the right price range. They all have WB on them, first thing I will change but with a rookie perhaps I should let it on...not a fan of the WB.

The forgiving brace height of the Reflex would be best for a beginner I think. Reflex is good stuff so quality is not a worry.

Rob I got this one for my youth hunter, the kid could not shoot the damn thing!

We exchanged it for Reflex Excursion and the kid is drilling them now!!

Tx took the words right out of my mouth.

I'd go with the more forgiving brace height of the Reflex to start him out on.

I'd go with the Reflex as well.
A forgiving brace height is a big plus for a new archer i think

PS
I use a WB but would probably not reccomend one for a beginner.
Your form has to be pretty good for a WB to work well.

I gotta agree with WH and TX. Reflex.

Higher Brace height,a touchlonger ATA (by today's standards of 31-33")

Should be a good solid shooter and make a great treestand bow.

Plus, Reflex is a solid company.
