ORIGINAL: fun2hunt May be an animal attack wound. The bottom cut in the picture looks like the same shape as a bottom jaw/teeth of an animal. Its also in the area an animal would attack.Doesn't look like a normal exit wound of a gun or bow. Just a possibility that shouldn't be ruled out. |

I did'nt read all the post . But for me the title gives the wrong impression. that if someone puts a bad shot on a deer it will live and you should'nt go look for it. I know the person that started this thread did not intend it to be this way but some young guy could read it like that.
most of us seen a gang green deer in rifle season from a broken arrow in a deer. live yes but could'nt eat it.. hope you did'nt take it that i was criticizeing you poster ! |

Not at all PA JAY, but that is why I put " so far " in the title. As I said, I have several other pics from another cam, a few hundred yards away, that the deer looks BAD in. The area around the neck where the wound is is beginning to turn dark / black. I know some of you have some doubts, but if you were familiar with the area, and the lack of predators, you would understand. And as I also said before, the Game Wardens also believe, after viewing the pics, that it was a poacher. But everyone is free to believe what they want. It's America after all.

I think these pictures show just how tough deer can be. As for the injury to the buck in the original picture. I say it looks like some sort of animal related wound. Its hard to really say just from pictures but that would be my guess at hand

It doesn't look like a wound from a hunter unless it was the four legged kind. As for lack of predators in the area are there no wild dogs that run loose. Looks to me that some animal probably more than one got ahold of this poor critter. And as for yer game wardens believing the pics, they will believe anything to get a chance at catching someone doing something wrong. I know this because I was unjustly accused by someone that doesn't like my family much and it almost cost me a 152 inch deer. But in the end I proved that the animal was taken legally and got my trophy back from them.

I trust MichaelT's judgement very much and beleive what he thinks happened to this animal. He is the man on the sceen and knows the area well.
