RE: Kid shot "my" deer......
[blockquote]quote: SB Your original post was a little vague. It just sounded like a kid had permission to hunt land and shot a buck you were after. No mention of the trespassing part.[/blockquote] From my original..... [blockquote]quote: Grandpa owns ONE acre. I have sole permission to hunt the area all around him for MANY, MANY acres. [/blockquote] I guess....?????;) |
RE: Kid shot "my" deer......
Get a picture of the deer, send me a picture of yourself, and we'll photoshop you into the picture.;) J/K.
Like everyone else said, if the deer was taken off property that they were not allowed to be on, I too would be extremely upset. Even though this one of the three you were scouting is down, good luck with the other two! |
RE: Kid shot "my" deer......
So bad so sad.
First off, too bad the kid was trespassing and therefore poaching. Have you ever capturedhim on your game cams? That might be helpful. But let's look at the bright side of things here. You said you were hunting 3 deer. 3 - 1 = 2 right? So, get ya one of those other 2. And as Greg said, "trespassing should not be condoned either" - right on. And as Rob said, "a poacher should never be condoned". |
RE: Kid shot "my" deer......
WEll, I look at it different. I'd be happy for the kid. As far as someone shooting "MY" deer. It isn't "MINE" until I tag it. If we could call them mine or yours, well heck, that's no fun. Quite possible the kid figured something out and did it right. It continues to amaze me the number of people that get all sour grapes and jealous because someone does something right. There are fewer "LUCKY" consistant people than we think. Luck happens in casinos and the lottery.

RE: Kid shot "my" deer......
i agree with david, so he got a buck off his uncles land without permission. mabye he had permission from god who really owns the land. i would just consider yourself lucky that you have a good place to hunt, thank god for that blessing because most of us dont! if the other bucks arnt huge, get a couple does for meat and the bucks left will be bigger next year.

RE: Kid shot "my" deer......
I totally agree with SGGobblers on the "MY" deer feeling. I think he was making a expression about the deer he has put alot of work into. If that deer was to go off onto another property down the road and was shoot off the property he hunts, like he said, I too would still say "my" deer, and I bet he would be happy for the guy for a successful hunt, but still be bummed. I think what makes this one so hard is he has about a 95% feeling that it was shot on "HIS" property! He knows he does not "own" the deer but when you start hunting in the spring and put alot of work into the heard, you develop a relationship with the deer. I have a nice nine pointer that I have lots of cam pics of and only seen him once in person and every time I talk about him at work or on here I say "my" nice nine. Because "I" have developed a good sense of identity with him. And I do not just do it with the big guys, I also have "my" mom and twins that I refer to alot to.
I kinda have the same problem, but reverse of yours on the new swamp area I have been hunting. It is 35 acres and is good deer hunting but I got into the game a little late on this place and my funds for more stands is zero!Did not find it until mid October, But all the farm ground on three sides is owned by the same guy and his daughter and son-in law live about five hundred yards behind it with access from another road. He was givin permission a long time ago to bow hunt one year and now thinks he is entitled to keep hunting it since it is in his back yard. He is to lazy to go into the swamp since it is real think and his one stand is set up just inside the swamp on the outside corner closest to his house. My problem is if I push for him to stay out he can make life harder on me then me on him, He has a five minuet walk, I have a twenty minuet drive! I am debating just letting him hunt rather then risk him taking my stuff. |

ORIGINAL: Rob/PA Bowyer ORIGINAL: TJF Jeff Does your state allow baiting??? Tim Crafty one you are !! :D Jeff might want to check it out. Baiting is starting to be used more here. I've seen areas thathaven't been good deer spots in the last 15 yearsturned into a feeding deer zoo with a largebait pile. You don't need an acre to make a bait pile work especially if the surrounding area is " not " pressured. Iwould never have to leave town to hunt deer if I chosed to hunt over a bait pile. Deer get used to buildings, people and traffic. Tyler and I have joke for years that a spot on the edge of town not70 yards from my house would make a good " kill spot "with a pile or a smallfood plot. I am sure we wouldn't haveany problem taking 3 bucks or more out of there a year. We've seen some nice bucks over the years running it in daylight hours. Tim |

Davidmil:
I've got no other way to say it...... You're simply an idiot. In your way of thinking the guy who breaks into the jewelry store and steals a 3 carat diamond has figured out a better way of doing things than the guy who spends his time mining. Yeah....I think "idiot" was appropriate. Jeff |

SO its Okay for me to come to the land you own or have permission to hunt since God really owns it anyway. Man I wish I'd have known that sooner, I'd have a lot more areas to hunt.....by the way I'll be right over;) |
