I'm so sick of all the competition and bitching that goes on during hunting season up here. Its frickin ridiculous. No matter where you hunt you are always stepping on someones toes..or getting shot at. Its not hunting anymore its just a big mess.

The deer herd outside the city limits has been desimated by wolves and winter kill.. The Michigan DNR no longer allows winter feeding to help the herd. Any good deering hunting is within or near city limits and you can't hunt in city limits and the surrounding outskirts are loaded with pricks. Everyone shoots all the small bucks during rifle season. Our buck to doe ratio is out of this world (bad). Everyone and their brother in city limits feeds deer, which draws all the DOES into city limits.. Then the bucks follow during the prime hunting time.. Feeding in city limits is not allowed, yet NO ONE (Local Police) does anything about it. The deer up here don't even leave anymore for the yards, instead, they FEED in everyones YARDS all winter long...

I need somewhere i can go for a week and see quality bucks and not worry about all the other bullcrap..

Any ideas? short of spending an arm and leg on an outfitter...

I hear ya Mathews. You know that we have most of the same views on deer hunting the UP. This year, we had people all over us. There are two trolls that hunt the state land next to us and this marks the 4th year in a row they both took spikes on opening morning, and then they each took a tiny racked 5 pointer on the third day/ We had all the deer they shot on camera and they were no where near shooters. I get so pissed off at the DNR as well for the doe regulations, just ridiculous.I think bow season is the only real chance to actually go after a good buck. Sorry you are so frustrated. I would say, save your money and go on a hunt every year, or every other year, and go to a state/canada.

I would offer to help but your so far away up north of me it would be a long trip to come down state.
I hunt around Chelsea and Stockbridge , theres alot of public land open for hunting around here.
There is some state land in Kalkaska but even thats quiet a trip for you.
Have you tried any where near Iron River or Crystal Fall's.
