GLAD YOU WERE ABLE TO LOCATE IT CONGRATS. THAT IS THE REASON WHY MORE STATES NEED TO ALLOW TRACKING DOGS ( MI DOES) AND PEOPLE NEED TO UTILIZE THEM .
I'M TRAINING AN ADULT DOG AND LOOKING FOR A PUP.

I'm some what surprised there is enough of a deer left one month later to tell where you hit. Incidently, he did bleed, you just couldn't follow it.[&:] That doesn't look like the skull cap of a month dead deer. Are you sure it's the one you killed?
Yeah, what David said[&:]

Thanks, and he ran into a large, exteremly thick cedar swamp. We looked for over 8 hours in 2 days. And yes, this is 100% for sure the buck that I shot, it isn't something I would easily forget. He bled great for the first 10 yards and then I found pieces of white fat that must have plugged up the hole. The reason I know where the shot was because there was a befined rib with a large cut, which looked very much like a broadhead blade. But I could be wrong.

Sorry guys he didn't get the buck he found a rack.

At least you found him. Hes a realnice buck especially with a bow.A great accomplishment with a stick and string. Congrats on your buck.

This is a great accomplisment?

Congrats on your gun kill. I wouldn't have brought the rack out on a buck I couldn't use the meat, that's just me.Every time I looked at it,it would bum me out.

Stuff happens sometimes. Sorry it took so long to find him. If you hunt long enough it's probably going to happen to most of us. I had one about 20 years ago that bled like a pig for about 80 yards and I lost it. I found him 4 days later where he had backtracked and fell probably not 30 yards from my tree. I still don't see how I didn't see him. If I could hear I would have heard him. He went almost straight away until he busted through some thick honeysuckle into a field. He must have came right back down his exit path and jumped off and I missed it. The guy that owned the neighboring property wouldn't let me go in to look. His words, "If you do I'll have you arrested". He's a State Trooper in Maryland. I wrongly assumedthe deerkept right on going. It still bugs me that I messed up the recovery. This was in 1984.

I've lost two so I'm no way perfect. I'm just saying I wouldn't have brought the rack out if I couldn't utalize the animal. Personal thing.

So...you are 100% certain this could be your buck, and yet at the end of the quoted post above you state you could be wrong...kinda a contradiction in terms.
You are lucky, if it was your deer, to find him intact after so long. We have enough yotes, dogs, foxes, and racoons in my area to tear a carcass apart overnight, let alone for a month.
Got any pictures of the rest of the carcass, I am interested in seeing those actually.
Also, just curious, but did you tag the animal, as you should have?

Campo: I gurantee you this is the buck I shot, but I view very few things as being 100%. I seen a cut on a rib that was from a broadhead, the deer is about 200 yards from my stand, in the direction he ran. I think it is my right to gurantee this is the buck I had shot. The carcass was torn to pieces, and I will show in she next picture. And if you think you have alot of coyotes, dogs, and coons, We have just as many no counting the wolf population. When I got back to camp, I did tag the animal given that it is a buck I harvested and found. Pics to follow

Charlie P: Every hunter, over a lifetime, will lose an animal. I have been hunting my entire life and this is my first. This doesn't do any justice to the animal and your right, I couldn't eat the meat. I am not as proud of this buck as I would have been finding him the day after I shot him. But because I scouted this buck for over a month, patterened him, and set my stand in an exact location to harvest this beautiful animal, I feel he deserves some recognition.

Because I did this and I did that the buck desrves some recognition?

If you harvested him as you put it you used your archery tag on him right? That would give him some recognition wth the state.

Just must be two different ways of looking at things.
