Default Couldn't get him to stop!

Ok, it was Monday night and I had been in the stand for about 2.5 hours. At four o'clock, an hour of light left, I watch a doe across the field come bolting out of the woods. As soon I thought, watch for the buck, here he came. A nice 8-9 pointer that might have scored in the 140's. He ended up chasing her by me twice practically circling my tree at 10 yards. I tried all I could to get them to stop but I could. I grunted, whistled, and even yelled "HEY!" to get the to stop but no luck. Could I have done anything different?

I have seen three bucks in the area that might all be P&Y's and only have 2 days left before gun season. What sickens me is I passed on the smaller of the 3 back in late October. He was probably a 125 class. I got so much crap from my dad and some friends....probably cause I haven't killed a deer yet with my bow! Yep feeling pretty stupid right about now passing on that deer.

That buck was on a mission, no way you were going to get him to stop.

Sounds like an exciting hunt though!

Closest I've seen a buck chasing does was about 150 yards away.

One of the biggest bucks I've ever drawn on was doing the same thing - following a doe and there was no stopping him either. The buck I killed back on the 6th didn't stop the first couple times I mouth grunted and I made a very loud and "un-deer" like SOUND to get him to stop when I did. It was more of a yell than anything else, but it worked perfectly.

When this happens your best bet is to start chasing the doe too.
It will make the buck super jealous, and he will stop, turn, and charge you.
The key is getting the shot off before he charges you!
