Default Deer fight last night.

Saw something interesting yesterday. Got in my stand at 3PM and at 3:05 I heard some grunting... Well at 3:17 about 12 deer came busting right up in the woodsbehind my stand ( I was hunging a field) several spikes a 4 and a bunch of does. Right behind the group of 12 was a small basket 6 chasing the does and 5 yards behind him was a large 8 pointer that we had been seeing but havnt seen in 2 weeks. all of this happend in about 10 seconds and about 5 yards behind my stand. That Large 8 was grunting hard and focused in onthat 6,and when that got about 50 yards from my stand that Large 8 gave that basket 6 a whoopin he won't soon forget. the 6 turned around to face the 8 , they locked horns one time and the 8 through him to the ground the 6 got up and looked like he was going back for more but then thought better of it and got out of dodge.
What a rush. my heart didn't slow down for a hour..... Thats something I bet alot of hunters don't get to see. Wow. it was crazy.

Northumberland County. (between the Rappahannock and Potomac rivers right on the Bay.)No there were so many deer running through behind me i was afraid to get up and turn around I just turned my head and he was running after that little 6. I dont think I could have stopped him if I would have yelled at the top of my lungs. He was one focused buck. I could see his eyes and they never left that little buck he was after.

On Sat. 11/4.....I saw 4 sparring matches between 6 different bucks. Yes....it's cool to see that happen and be in the "stands"!

Saturday evening I saw 2 bucks go at it for anbout 45 min. They just kept at it. They would get running starts and slam heads like goats, then just kept grinding their heads back and fourth and pushing each other arround until finally they just both walked off into the bean field. If I get a chance to watch them do it again next year it will probably be more wowing than cute, you know, when they get a rack.
