Well it is rifle season here in MN. So I decide to head into the state game refuge, you can archery hunt in there. I scout for hours and not very much activity, mind you I have hunted this area for years. Finially I stumble acreoss 3 fresh scrapes. I put up my new Loggy Bayou stand there. Head out to the truck and gear and back in I go. It is about noon, about 415 he comes in. To far no shot, not the biggest buck but a shooter by my standards. As wide as the ears and a 8 or 10 point. That is it for the day. I move my stand after dark 20 yds closer. The next morning 6 am I am in, nothing. Head out to the truck for a cup of coffee and a bite to eat. Back in at 10 am. I no longer get set up and guess who comes through, Stanley ( I name my deer) No arrow nocked, no release, no harness on, I am not ready. Once again no shot, cause he winds me. I move further down wind. About 2 pm here comes a little scrub buck a very small 8 I let him walk. Then a "Y" buck comes he walks also, it is 515 and no Stanley. I head back out in the am. It is 7 am and I hear a deer, to dark to tell what he is. Then he turns his head and I can see the spread of his antlers. YES it is Stanley, I draw and release. I ended up moving a total of 4 times, no further than 30 yd a time, seen him a total of 5 times, 4 no shots. He ended up 97 5/8 172 lbs. Not the biggest deer I ever shot but definetly the most rewarding. Mossy should be posting pics for me.
