I have shot high like that and had them live but it was always a pass through shot.

Yeah, the pic Greg posted is not the same buck. Look at the date on the pic. Whoever shot that deer had a good shot on him though.

Yea, if he doesnt remove it and even then, hes lible to die from infection. Especially when the winter hits hard.

How can a deer live through a shot like that? It may be a bit further back, but still should've gotten liver and the deer should be laying somewhere dead. Even a paunch shot - and it doesn't appear to be that far back - would have eventually killed this deer. He's a touch one
