good climbers??

Keep the hangons as long as you don't need to sell them to help pay for a climber. Its nice to walk into the woods and just climb up into a tree. But having a climber available for trying new spots is nice.

I just bought a Summit Viper 2 weeks ago. When guys here were saying how well they bit into the tree that was the understatement of the century [8D]. You're not going anywhere in that thing. Comfy as heck too. My only beef so far with it is I wish the platform was a foot longer. Not a big deal just an observation. It packs 10 times easier than I imagined too (once I got the hang of it). The only not so quiet part IMO is taking the cables out to wrap around the tree. Climbing the tree itself is quiet as can be. All in all I'm very happy with it.

i just looked and the new new loggys is a little different then the one i bought a few years ago (2-3) the teeth are located different and the angle of the cable is steeper so they might be better. everyone i know well (no joke) has a loggy with the rubber in front and back and never slip with it but my brother bought one one year when they tried these hard plastic knobs going against the tree and he slips quite a bit. i really have never slipped with my old loggy and none of the other guys i know have either that one reason none of us have switched to anything else there just so light and quick and nothing to get in the way of shooting, but they can be a bit loud if you dont use a couple tricks to quiet them like putting the padded shoulder straps in between the stand and the extra band sticking out to stop any rattles and also keep the seat bungeed down until your at desired height.

If you're in the market for a Summit....and you can wait a week or so.....I bought a (I think) backpacker SS a month or so ago that's never been in a tree (It's the EXACT same stand as the Viper.....except it has the ability to fold flat for packing). I bought htis stand because my son wanted a new one, this year....and I loved the Viper I already owned. The one I have has the Summit Skin already attached.
RobPA's coming down to NC to hunt for a couple of days....and I'm ready to see this 'Ol man stand. If it looks like something I'd like to try......I'll sell the Summit for a VERY reasonable price (again...it's never been in a tree).
