Should I sell my Hoyt?
#1
I've been considering selling the trusty 2004 Hoyt Razortec in order to get a 2006 Bowtech Allegiance. A guy at work will give me $350 for it. It has a Vital Bow Gear Proslide single pin sight ($120 new), a whisker biscuit, and an STS. Also a Bohning 6 arrow quiver. It's in good condition and has brand new string and cables. I'm hoping I can pick up a 06 Allegiance cheap after the season ends. I'm really torn about this one. I hate to part with the Razortec butif I wait another year or twoI don't think I'll get any money for it. What would you guys do?

I'd sell it. I basically sell/trade in my bow every two years and buy whatever new bow mathews comes out with. It doesn't hurt that I have relatives who own a pro shop and i get all my stuff discounted, otherwise i wouldn't be able to do that....but i'd say your idea sounds good....

If aint broke dont fix it. Do you shoot good with it? Will it still harvest a animal?
I have 1999 hoyt magnatec and before that a browning and at first I was po'd I got rid of it
because all the trials of trying to getthe new bowright. I now have the hoyt right and will not part with it. Price tag also doesnt help matters but Im right on with this bow.
I see you use the word TRUSTY, stick with that. If anything have your bow shop check the bow out to make sure no damage.

Sounds like you know the answer if you're strugling with the decision that much. You may be getting lured in by the marketing and the urge we have to get the latest and greatest. IMO I wouldn't sell if its "trusty" and you have full confidence in it. Just my opinon though.

I would sell it. That is just my opinion. I like to "upgrade" even when there is nothing wrong with what I am using. I traded my vehicle to get a "nicer" one. Was anything wrong with mine? NO. I just wanted something newer. I am going to build a new house within the next year. Is anything wrong with mine? NO. SometimesIjustliketo have something new. I guess it all boils down to what YOU want to do. By all means only do what makes YOU happy, not what anyone suggests.

If you want to and can afford it, I would do it. Sometimes it is hard to justify other than you just want to, but that is good enough. Not that there is anything wrong with your old bow, but getting a new bow makes you want to shoot and practice more. I have sold bows that I shoot very well to try something different. I am like you and struggle with the decision each time, but after I do it, I am always glad I did. It's fun to shoot something new!!!
Good Luck!!

even if you can afford the new setup, I'd keep my current one, andI'd use all the money I had for the new setup tosave for... let's see... another digital game camera, why not have a trusty bow and another camera to tell where the big ones are at? I have a matthews original FX, which works perfect, and is pretty much as quiet as the rest of them newer bows, and I see no point in me just trading something in when it fits me and works perfect. The FPS does change, but can't you still kill a deer with the one you got now?
