Default Oklahoma Rut times?

I hunt in central Oklahoma. Any other hunters in Oklahoma seeing signs of the rut yet? I know the bucks are down in the meadows with the does, but I have not seen much chasing or heavy movement yet.

Just wondering when the "peak" time in central Ok is?

Anyone?..?

I have seen some younger bucks doing some "following" I am not sure they were chasing. I have seen a couple nice ones that were alone. But they didn't seem to be interested in a grunt, so I am not sure they are into the swing of things yet. With the temps getting warmer I am hoping they are not going to go nocturnal on us. We need some cold weather to blow through the area.

I've been seeing some signs that the big ones are on their feet checking a few does. The younger bucks have been checking and chasing for going on over a week now. I did see a good buck chasing a couple of does last week and my dad saw a mature buck checking a couple of does this past weekend. I don't think it's in full swing, but it's definitly picking up and will be peaking soon. You need to be out there as much as possible now.

Same here. I've been hunting around Marrieta and things still appear to be slow, but they're picking up.

The week before rifle season starts usually hits it pretty close.

I hunt in northwest Ok and I did see more bucks this weekend then I had before but none were chasing at all. I even saw a group of bucks still moving together. The weather really needs to cool down. It was about this time last year when the rut started to kick in. It is suppose to freeze both Friday and Saturday night so they should be moving.

I hunt Central OK and have seen a loner buck checking trails but not aggressively. I haven't seen any rut activity yet. A co-worker of mine hunted in NE Ok last Friday and saw bucks chasing does all day even 2 mature bucks chasing. He said that Sat and Sun he didn't see anything after that. Things have to start happening this week or real soon.

This coming weekend (Weekend just before gun season) has always been the best for me as far as deer activity. I would hunt all day if possible. That cold front is moving in so it should be good. Good luck!!! Let us know how it goes.
