At this point in my life (age, physical shape, etc.) I'm capable of dragging a deer. And I always do it without the animal field dressed, as I do it at the house for a few reasons (getting live weight, and keeping coyote intrusion limited in areas that are great hunting grounds).

I love the torture as NY Bowhunter said. It's the continuation of that success. The same as the first moment you get to walk up on that downed deer. I feel proud. I feel excited. I feel alive.

My tractor[8D]
Amen...without my Kubota, my work load with a deer is drastically increased.
We have the same tractor[8D]
I feel sorry for both of you. This is a Hunting web site and every body knows, "Nothing runs like a Deere"!!!!!!!
Or cost as much
I don't know what your talking about there. The only tractors I found expensive were New Holland and Cub Cadet. I really like the New Holland but couldn't get over the 2K difference. The Cub had poor performance as compared to anyone else. The Deere and the Kubota were the same price with the Deere a little better on performance. Either way I have to agree a loader and 4X4 traction is an easy way to pick up and to discard what's left.

I said 20-30 minutes and yes I can.
And I said 1 person can't do a respectable job in that amount of time.

You are the same guy that said drop away arrow rests suck and make noise and don't measure up to your Whisker Biscuit.
If you are gonna attribute quotes to me you should have your story straight.............I've never said that they suck.........and if they didn't make noise then why is yours covered in moleskin? I do prefer the WB having shot both types. I know I would not have been able to pull off my shot this year without a WB.

I am counting from the time the deer is lifted untilI am done boning.
I know what you're counting.........I just think you are counting wrong......because a decent job would take longer. No way you bone out the pelvis, leg bones (front and back), the neck, straps and loins in 20 minutes. Where are you doing the boning??.......on the ground?

Dude, your hobby is arguing and quoting everybody on here. Your crap is amusing to me; nothing more.
Why is it that EVERY time someone doesn't agree with you 100% around here it gets called "arguing"??................THAT is amusing.

Yes I did say the front legs aren't worth the time. I still believe that on the little ones. However I found a better way to do it all faster. I have a place I can donate the whole animal, guts and all, and still get my tax deduction.[8D] Guess what, nothing goes to waste at that place. It all becomes cat food.
Sounds like a good deal.

This is what I meant by some people having different opinions of what wasting meat means. Now if you had said you could do a deer in 20 minutes I would have tended to agree because I know you leave plenty behind.

I've done enough deer.........and seen other people do plenty more to know better. A good friend of mine has been a professional meat cutter for over 20 years and butchers deer for extra money during the season. He is happy if his crew does a deer in 30-40 minutes........and they have 3-4 guys going at once.
perhaps, your friend should find another way to make a living. $40/deer/4 guys * .66 hour = $6.60/hour. I think he's loosing money.

Your math is WAY off.

First of all he charges $75 for a straight cut..........more for anything out of the norm of steaks, chops and grind. At 40 minutes/deer that is 3 deer every 2 hours for a total of $112.5 an hour divided 4 ways is just over $28/hr. He does not divide it equally either since the equipment is all his.

It would takes that long too Fieldmouse ,cause I'll bet they are cutting through bone with bandsaws and such. When you filet deer it is in my opinion ,the best way to go,and quickest too.
No bandsaws............haven't you heard of CWD yet?

I clean about 40 to 50 deer per year. Once the deer is on the gambrel in the air (not yet gutted) I can have it in the cooler in about 10 to 15 minutes. But that is having the tenderloin, backstraps, neck, hams, and shoulders in the cooler still on the bone.
After that I cut my steaks and all. I can't see how you could debone a deer in 20 to 30 minutes and feel like you have done a proper job.

That's just me.

I get the deer cart for smaller deer. They work well.

Depending on the deer's size and where it falls I'll drag it down the river bank and get the canoe. Park the truck at the bridge. Paddle thecanoe with the deer in it downto the bridge where the truck is waiting. Saves me a 3/4 mile drag through some nasty terrain.
