My 1st buck of 2006 - picture
It was Saturday morning. At 7:55 I sent my brother a text that I was had only seen a doe, a spike and I was freezing (very windy) and was gonna get down at 8:00 and go scout a new spot. He sent a text back that he had just stuck a doe. I told him that I would come and help him get her whenever he was ready. As soon as I typing the last word, I heard footsteps. I hit send and looked up and there was this 8 pt coming in. He was about 40 yards. I stuck my phone in my pocket, stood up, grabbed my bow. When he went through my last shooting lane, I voice grunted. He stopped and 31 yards and I let fly. I hit him a little far back. He ran 50 yards into the clear cut that I overlooked, stopped and in about a minute, I watched him lay down. In about 15 minutes a doe and a small buck came by. They stopped and looked at him for a minute and they walked off. I just stayed put and in about 30 more minutes, he was finished. I hit liver, IVC and left lung. After the shot, I was shaking soooo hard that I had to sit down (cold and excitement)!! I hope I never lose that rush!!
