Was your dad in a tree stand? How far was the deer when he shot. THe white hair could indicate the exit wound, not necessarily the entrance.

The blood, reaction of the deer, and arrow all sound like a liver to me. Hopefully he didn't push it last night.

Dark blood usually indicates muscle blood/liver. Ive noticed gut shoots usually have a greenish appearence, with less of a dark color too it. Kinda like watered down blood. If you havent pushed her, you should be able to find her. If not, im sorry, you will get the next one. keep your heads up.

Brian, I'm with the others on this. Sounds like a liver shot and possibly nicked the guts as well. The white hair probably indicates the exit hole. If you didn't push her last night, she shouldn't have gone far before laying down. Liver shots are fatal, but not always quickly. Looks like the rain will hold off so you'll have plenty of time to look for her. Let us know how it goes. Good luck.

Redneck, you should find her within 100 yards or so.
If you lose the trail, look for beds. I liver won't heal up the way muscle does. She'll keep bleeding in bed unless guts are clogging the hole.

Check the thickest cover, and all trails in the area.
She's still there unless something else bumped her out of bed before she died.

Good luck.
