That does suck, But you know...As expensive as some of those stands are, it doesnt surprise me at all at the increase of stand theft! I would love to have one of those Lone Wolf Alpha climbers...over 300 bucks...I dont think so!

You can buy decent hangons for 50 bucks, and if some ass steals them, oh well....

Not knocking you at you at all...I hope your kids get a chance to go this season.

I was so ticked off about it when I called my buddies. We came up with the idea to drop off some roofing nails at the end of his driveway. A couple of tires would be more than the cost of my hang-on stand. It was only about $50. I don't think I can really bring myself to do anything. I figure if he is willing to steal my stand, what would stop him from lying to me about it. It is just the fact that it ruined my plans with my son. We have been having some problems lately. I will work something out. I think a 3-sided homemade ground blind will do the trick. I have already gotten a deer this year and the time spent with and reconnecting with my son is worth more than any deer.

Seems like the thieves are sharing the woods with us and you can't trust other hunters that you don't know. A very good friend of mine had his stand stolen years ago. I was on my way in to my stand and had to walk past his. He couldn't go that morning. Good thing, I was the one who discovered that his stand was no longer in his tree. I got even more worried when I had trouble finding my own, but I eventually did. I always pack my stand in and out of the woods now unless I'm leaving it overnight and returning in the morning. I pass other people's stands from time to time and wonder how they can be so trusting of the thieves among us.

I typed up a note, put it in a plastic zip lock bag, and tacked it to the tree my stand was stolen from.
It said something to the effect of:
Thieves, I had 6 trail cameras around these fields and woods.
I have pictures of you stealing my treestand.
I expect it back on this tree next weekend or I turn the pictures over to the police.

I went back last weekend and no stand.
Maybe they haven't been by my spot or are calling my bluff.
Its worth a shot anyways...
