First deer with a bow
#1
Well, this is my second season bowhunting and I've finally connected. My first year I had a shot at adoe in early september but passed because I felt I had a good chance at a buck, but never got another shot. This year I've spent as much time as I could scouting and hangin stands, but it didn't make a difference until the corn was harvested yesterday. I got out this morning before light and at about 8:00 had a doe walk by and a nice 8 point right behind her at about 35 yards, or so I thought. He was actually about 5-10 yards past my yardage marker but somehow I couldn't tell. well I shot just under him[:@]. It was my first ever shot at a deer let alone a nice buck so I didn'tget too bent out of shape about it.Then this afternoon at about 5:00 a little 5 pointer walked out at 25 yards and I nailed him, double lung. Heonly ran about 30 yards and crashed. He may not be even close to as big as my 6x6 I got with my rifle last year but he means a lot more to me than that big one ever will because I worked so hard to get him. I couldn't be happier. Sorry I don't have any pics yet.
P.S.- I'm now a true believer in ground blinds with shoot thru mesh, I was a little scepticle at first.
