So the past coulpe day of hunting here in SW PA really have me stumped. I'm hunting a private farm, with no pressure, and I can't believe I havne't seen a buck chasing a doe yet.The past 3 seasons, I have seen severl good bucks rutting in this place, but this year it's just odd. I have seen several, probably 6 or 7 does in heat, meandering through the woods, with no bucks whatsoever in the vicinity. These does have been close, and dang, I could smell them myself!!! They exhibited the "hot" behavior, tails straight out, blackened glands on the back legs, very sketchy movements, soemtimes just stanidng still and almost shuddering or shaking for several seconds. I've had does like this wandering around me for at least an hour the past 3 evenings, and not a single buck has showed up to investigate. I'm at a loss as to what to do, this is my favorite buck hotspot, and I'm on vacation next week and this has me baffled.I keep telling myself that the bucks will show, but hel, 3 days in a row on this farm, and I've only seen one small basket 5 pt. Anybody ever experience this before? I'm not sure if I should hit it again next week as I normally would (which has yielded good action the past 3 season) or find another spot where the buck activity is visible. Geez.......what the hel !

Maybe the good bucks already had some other hot does pinned down? If this is a pretty fair sized acreage, and you have a pretty good idea of what goes on on the surrounding properties I think you should stick it out. You can't beat the real thing for attracting bucks!

id keep at it. the other day i saw 6-10 bucks chasing one estrous doe and even though a big eight had the controll they kept staying with him. eventually one of those does will bring in a buck or maybe more then one. i went to the spot i saw all those buck and only saw 1 small one two days later and he was one i saw seprate from all the ones chasing so hes jst on a pattern. if youve got the does then id hunt it and hunt as much as possible for a few days then if nothing try something else out.

Keep at it. With that many hot does a buck has to eventually catch the scent and then you'll be in the middle of some real action!
