Default how is this "hunting"

i just watched a high fence deer hunting show and i almost threw up, they have 2 year old deer avergaging 160 +, and last year took 20 200" bucks

these guys sat in a feild and passed up about 7 or 8 150+ deer and shoot a small 175" deer

i know hunting is never a guarantee, but this is as close as it gets, why do people consider this hunting!!!

Oh, this debate can come up time and again, eh?

I don't know, it's a personal preference I guess. I'd much rather take the time and dedicate myself to learning the patterns and what works and what doesn't with the deer on the property I hunt. Some people's standards are just different than other's. In my mind, it's KILLING, not hunting.

By definition:

WordNet - Cite This Source
hunting
n 1: the pursuit and killing or capture of wild animals regarded as a sport [syn: hunt] 2: the activity of looking thoroughly in order to find something or someone [syn: search, hunt] 3: the work of finding and killing or capturing animals for food or pelts [syn: hunt]

To me, high fence doesn't fall in this definition, but that's just my opinion, take it FWIW.

I call that shopping. I would rather kill a fair chase doe or a spike than a hand picked half tame penned deer.

It isn't hunting. It is killing, which requires no skill other than a steady hand, and good trigger pull.

But, if the people who take animals like that can pat themselves on the back and feel good about what they have done.... so be it. It's not illegal and I can't stop it, so I simply choose to ignore it and them. They cannot claim the animals in the record books, so as long as that stays constant, there is some level of protection from an invasion of lousy deer kllers trying to gain from the taking of ill gotten game.

Just my opinion.

God Bless

It's the equivolent of "patronizing" a prostitute and calling it "dating."

And that's not a "hunting show", it's deer pornography.

With the spread of CWD in Wisconsin knowing that these ranches are breeding and trading animals from all over the country means the disease will spread faster.
I am fairly sure their new ranch that is supposed to open next year is very close to where I hunt and the chance of contamination from penned animals is disturbing.

These high fenched ( caned hunts ) are what some - so called lazy hunters pay big money to outfitters for .
They just go in and a giude tells them where to go and some of them even go as far to tell you which one to shoot.
In my opinion thats not hunting , thats just plain murder , thoughtless cold blooded murder ... ooooh someone just had to get me started .
I apologize for the rant and I hope I didn't offend any one , its just my presonel opinion on the subject .
I rather do fair chase and really do some real hunting like it should be done.
