Well after countless hunts while not even seeing anything I finally got my first deer ever!

It was incredible. One of my buddy's had me come down to his spot because he has been seeing lots of deer. Her said they are moving at 3-4:30.

So I get to his house at 1:00 and we are in the woods at 1:30. We are heading in on an old logging trail being very quiet. My buddy slowly heads into the woods and then quickly signals me to stop, it's a BUCK! At 40 yards no less. We are totally un prepared and he spots us and bolts. Now part of me was happy just to see a deer but I wondered if the day was over.

So we shake it off and head in about 150 more yards. We put up the stand and Rony heads out of the woods. Before he left he told me where he had been seeing deer and what time. His last words were "sit down until about 3:00"

So I get up in the stand and I'm sitting there for oh 10 mintues when TWO does come stolling in! All I can think is @#$% I'm sitting! I have practiced shooting while sitting so I thought I'd give it a shot, no go, I tried to pull back slow and didn't have the leverage. The close doe then ducked behind a birch so I stood and drew. She popped out and BAM!!!! She went a yard then dropped, got up stumbled and went 50 yards to die. That practice paid off!!!

So I get on the cell phone to Rony to help me just incase I needed to track it. It is rain/sleeting/snow here in Connecticut today. So as I'm on the phone with Rony I say "Rony I shot one get back here, and oh my god I think the 2nd doe is coming back!" Rony replys "well shoot it, stupid"

So I hang up the phone and nock another arrow the 2nd doe was in range but travelled through the heavier brush. I wasn't going to take a low percentage shot.

I can't believe this is even real it happened so fast. It just was too perfect.

The wind was perfect.
It was nice and cold
Nice light cold rain
Peak of the rut
And a perfect double lung shot.

So right now I have a 100% kill ratio, one shot ever, one kill!

Gret job. Especially on not taking the shot until you were comfortable with it. And not taking the low percentage shot. WTG! Send us some pics.
