Default A detail I forgot about

On Friday I wrote a story about a 10 pointer that was rubbing hisantlers on limbs from the tree I was standing in. It didn't hit me until this morning, when I was on my way to my stand. An hour before that buck showed up at my tree, I had relieved myself in that very spot, where he was rubbing his antlers. From reading on the subject and from past experience, I am one of thosethat believes that human urine does not scare deer. This was the first time that I've witnessed behavior that supports my belief. The buck was rubbing his scent over mine. What do you guys think?

GregH, coming from you I have no doubt of what your saying.

After reading that study in Bowhunter Magazine I believe that as well. The Saturday before I shot my buck I stayed in the food plot stand all day. That's the stand the buck walked out from under. Behind the stand is a scrape about 8 yards away. I got down at noon and again at 4 to urinate in that scrape. The buck I shot came right out from that area obviously not scared away by the presence of my urine. I'd be curious when I go back in there the end of this week to guide a friend, I'd be interested to see if that scrape has been touched.

Cool story Greg, now get some antlers on the ground, I'm looking forward to another monster from you.

I've often heard that people pee don't smell like people, it smells like......pee and doesn't spook the deer.

Lately I have had to fight off the urge scratch a hole in my bedroom carpet, pee in it, then rub my head on the bed post. Maybe do a lip curl or two, then hit the sack![:-]

Actually I made a mock scrape this year and every time I go through I pee in it and the bucks are really nailing it. So I am a firm believer that it doesn't scare them away.
