Default some people need to aim better

at 10 o clock ami saw this deer walking 40 yards away from me, its organs were literally dragging on the ground, yet it was still walking and alive, someone shot it across the stomach area a cupple hours earlier, it wasent even bleeding anymore, the person whoshot it basiclly gutted it for me. these animals are amazing, could you live that long, and travel that far with your guts dragging on the ground?
Istopped him perfectly broad side and made the shot,i made a dubble lung shot on him, and he still ran 30 yards!!! pretty impressive for the wounds he had...
even tho hes not a monster, we all need to start some where, and he will be proudly mounted on my wall.

I'm one of them who need to "aim better". Previously I've hit lungs and hearts on every deer I ever shot. But on the big buck in Illinois I don't know what happened. I gut shot him. I was absolutely sick about it. I can make that shot in my sleep under practice conditions. Maybe I had a touch of buck fever. But either way I really wished I made a better shot. I felt bad that my deer had tosuffer for a day and a half before dying. It's a beautiful buck but the poor shot does really bother me. I think I tourqued the grip in the heat of the moment and that caused me to miss about 10 inches right at 35 yards. I agree you did the right thing to shoot that deer.

You did a good thing finishing that deer off, unfortunatly, alot of hunters would have passed on him.

sorry for the zoom in pic, its the only file thats not to large,

i forgot to mention look at his ear, he got shot by a bow in the ear, my uncle took a 40 yard shot a week earlier and the deer turned right as he shot and he got all ear.

after he got hit in the ear, he ran to another hunter and got shot at, but the guy compelty missed.

normally i would of passed him because i know theres an 8 point, but how could you let a suffering deer like that walk right by you.

this deer had a crasy year!
