Default Fletching Problems, Please Help

I know this may get moved but i really need some help and there is always more people lookin at this one then the other ones. So im sorry for puttin it here but i really need some help.

Ok i just got me an Arizona EZ fletch. and also got me some wraps and some blazers, im using the bohning platnum glue and for some reason i cant get the fletchings to stick very well. Like to a bare shaft with alot of glue they will stick pretty good. But not like how they do when i get them already done up, and with the wraps they stick good enough for about 3 or 4 shots then they start comeing off.

What am i doing wrong????

Please Help!!!

Feltching Problems are the worst! Sorry, couldn't resist! I could be that you are using too much glue. When I fletched my blazers on wraps, I found it best to apply the glue to the blazer, then dab it in a paper towel to get the excess off, and then put the blazer on the arrow. They all stuck, and very quickly. Give that a try and see if it helps. IT seems that the less glue the better.

Personally, I never had much luck with the jig that you mentioned. Sorry I couldn't help.

I've had this problem before. Like yooperMike stated use a little less glue to much puts a space between the arrow and the fletch and deosn't let it bond to the arrow and it takes it longer to dry.

Here is what I do. I put the wraps on and then purchased a fine piece of sand paper and roughed up my fletchtape where I put thefletchings on. Gives it something to hold on to instead of that slick tape. Then takerubbing alocohol and clean it good and let dry. Try this it helps alot. Then when your arrows are all done and fletched and driedtake a littleglue on the tip of your finger and rub it on the edge of thefletches and arrow to seal it up. Havn't had one come off yet.

I also used quick set gel glue / orange tube / reallystickyquick drying stuff.

I switched from Bohning Platinum to Goat Tuff and I'll never go back. Try this glue. It will stick. Also it doesn't take very much.

I did the same as txrookie. I fletch a bunch of arrows and had a problem with the Fletchtite Platinum. Switched to Goat Tuff and no more issues.

Never had much luck with that jig but itll work. Like the others said, you may be using to much glue. Also, are you whiping the fletching and the wraps with acetone before glueing? You may have a petroleum build up which is weakening the bond causing the fletching to come off soon.

I use the same jig and glue as you.

Make sure you get the entire backside of the vane coated in glue before you close the jig.

It can't just be partially covered in glue or parts of the vane won't adhere and you'll have them flying off.

If you're worried about excess glue seeping around the vane, take a Q-tip and slip it in the cracks between the arms of the jig (while it's closed and the vanes are drying) and wipe the extra glue off.
