Had this problem for years can someone help?
 

This morning while hunting a funnel by the river two buck's swam across the river and came up the bank under my stand, one was a small 4 pt. the other was a 10 pt. I guess around 120 class everytime I would start to draw my bow they would look my direction, I could just think about drawing it and they would look at me. Finally they were walking 25 yds. broad side, they didn't look at me but when I drew they spooked and ran about 50 yds. and stopped, stood for a little while then continued to walk away. This has happened several times over the years what am I doing wrong? There was no noise and I hunt about 25 ft. high.

Sounds like they are seeing you. Maybe you can add more cover behind your location to break up your outline better or maybe you are overhunting the stand and they know to look up to see a hunter. Do you use good scent control also?

MO Bowhnter got it right. Height helps but is by far and away not the key factor. The backdrop and camoflague is what counts. I have one stand in particular that I love to hunt. It'sonly 12' high and I have never been busted. I'm conceled in a trunk grouping with big thick branches behind me.Ifyoudo get busted, as you have,that deerWILL remember (doubtfully the next season). My suggestion is to move into a neighboring tree if possible.

The importance of "good" camo. They are definately spotting your movement. Did you see my review when I was flapping my arms at a doe downwind and she didn't spook?

Try to wait until they walk passed you a little bit. I always try to let them do that if i can.

i agree with the others. change your setup slightly and get some cover..put up a ladder stand and put some brush on the platform..anything. also try to make sure their heads are hidden when drawing or looking the opposite way. i think drawing is the hardest part of bowhunting once you got them in range. the deer around here are hunted so hard they ALWAYS look up. no joke..when feeding they will look around like normal deer but ALSO check the trees. ive watched that from the ground. im convinced its from hunting pressure. they know death comes from the ground AND above. makes for some tough bowhunting at times. gota really watch the movement or they are gone.

I agree. After many bowhunting screw-ups I soon-learned that deer WERE catching me move. I learned to TRY and wait until deer where slightly PAST me or their heads were behind a tree, turned and looking back, etc. They DO see movement even when above! Camo helps and so does not being highlighted against a skyline, etc.

;)I use good scent control but theres not alot of backdrop in this tree.Camo is hardwoods HD from head to toe. I'll try trading trees and not rushing the shot. HE COULD HAVE HEARD MY HART BEATING.:D:DHoping you guys would say it's not my fault so I wouldn't feel so bad.:(

Its not your Fault.. Well kinda .. Its the Deers' 7th sense.. The telekinesis. So your right. When you just THINK about drawing and shooting, they sense that.. Its true.. Next time, when your about to draw, dont think about it, think about something else, dont think about anything the deer can pick up on. Think about your wife naked in bed or something, that will keep that BIG buck in the area if he picks up on that. OR think about a DOE standing for a BUCK.. Trust me, It works.. Mark my word..[8D]

Youre too high, Youre being skylined. You can try finding a bigger tree wider than your shoulders or drop down about 5-10 feet.
