Default Spooked Deer

Hello all, I have a question about spooking deer, I was hunting this morning while sitting on a scrape and rub line I found and at 650 am I had a nice wide rack 6 pointer come to me as I took the shot on my first Buck I later discovered I hit a branch I wasn't paying attention to and missed he ran 20yds and stomped at me for a bit, I then used the primos can and cam and he did come back but not close enough to shoot, I didn't know I missed until I started to lower my gear to check the arrow, as I was doing so there was 2 does approaching me and then ran so I waited another hour and then did it again I then noticed 5 more deer about 70 yards away, I am not sure if tinks spooks does? or they winded me and or saw movement while I was lowering my gearbut I was 25 ft up? (and I heard that they can't wind you as well over 20ft?)and again my gear was 1/2 way to the ground they too ran. so my question is should I move my stand to a different tree and also what are the chances of the deer using this trail again? this is my second year at bow hunting for deer so any and all info would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
John[/align]

John, it sounds like they SAW you and bolted. You should be OK hunting there in a couple of days though, after things cool down. Don't let it bother you, that won't be the last time you spook deer.

I don't know who told you you can't be winded 20 ft. high, but that is definitely false.

That's true. How high you are does not matter when the wind is blowing at an awkward angle. Also, think about how easy it would be from 70 yards to see a bow, shaking and moving downward, while hovering in the air? I'd say they saw you, and will be cautious for a day or two. But then, if pre-rut and gun season (muzzleloader here) hasn't spooked them, they'll be acting normal in no time.
