How many times have you hunted this year?
 

I'm kind of bummed at my season so far. I've only managed to hunt 4 times since our October 1 opener. All of them were morning hunts. I did take a doe October 7 but I just wish I could get out there more.

It's tough finding time to hunt right now because I work 2nd shift, my wife works, I go to school, and we have kids ages 1, 2, and 3.I can't wait until my kids are old enough tohunt - I'll just take them with me!

Oct 1 opener, only missed one evening because of lightning. Of course we can't hunt Sunday.

I can't remember exactly, but probably between 6 and 8. Not as much as I should have been, but I get so tired and worn out right now, plus there have been too many other things going on lately. The weather hasn't exactly cooperated lately either. :eek:

I've spent more days scouting and hanging stands this year so far than I have hunting.

I missed the entire early season except for one day.

Days hunted out of 30: 1.
Days scouted/stand prep: 17

If I don't get one this year it wont be for a lack of preparation.

I have gone 8 times and killed 2 deer. I plan to go after work tomorrow and twice Saturday and again Sunday evening. Then there is next week. I have until the end of the month to fill my remaining 2 doe tags and until Jan 7th to fill my remaining buck tag. I should make at least 50 more trips this season. My wife is pretty tolerant although I sometimes think I should spend more time with my 22mo old daughter.

Lost count. My season opened Sept. 15 and I was there. Hunted a couple ofnights each week on weeknights and missed a total of 2 1/2 days on the weekend. I am pretty lucky.

Been out everyday but one.
Mostly evenings during the week. Mornings and evenings on Sat. No Sun. hunting in Pa.
Deer sightings 3. No bucks.
Killed one doe.

My hunt is 60 miles round trip..Public property...59,000 acres:(
Quality hunts.??..4.... last day is this Sunday.. I'm going tomorrow evening and Sat. I've been hearing stuff in the thick about 70 yds so I planto move my stand tomorrow in the swamp thicker.

5 hunts for me since the opener Oct. 1. Once the November starts in and things start rocking in Illinois I will be out there every spare minute of daylight i can get.

Right no wI know I have at least 11 days to hunt in November so I will hopefully be able to get some more afternoon slipped in and put a big buck on the ground.

Now that is dedication. It's tough going out every day when you don't see alot of deer. My first two years were like that. I think you really appreciate seeing deer when you don't see many. Some guys go out and see 10 or 15 every time. They don't know how lucky they are to have access to such areas. I hope you get a nice one.

I'm only kidding. I've been on what I call practice hunts around my house. I don't expect to kill anything just work out the kinks. I went yesterday evening and this morning for real hunts. Didn't see too much yesterday except for a few hikes and horse back riders. This morning saw a few does a fox and a few hikers. I should mention a whole bunch of stinking squirrels on both hunts. It's still early. In two weeks, I will get serious.

have a sept. 15th opener. I have gone out a total of about 15 days and have 4 deer down 3 does and a 6 pointer.

I have about 40 hours in now. I only get to hunt weekends except for the first Mon, and Tues in Oct, and my vacation planned for 11/4 to 11/12.

Pretty well every day but sundays. I run a turkey farm so I get up around 3:30 to work a little then I go to the wood till from about 6:00 till 9:00 and go back out around 3:00. Still no luck so far but I've sure seen alot of deer just nothing in range!

Quite a few I've been out every weekend but 2. I get out a couple evenings each week. I got one doe to show for it but a lot of good ole time out in the woods.

I've hunted on 8 days since the season opened,with a total of 47.5 hrs. Two days I hunted both morning and evening, and the rest half days, some morn and some evening. Mostly evenings though.
So far I've gotten one doe,:) seen a total of only 8 deer, 2 were bucks though. One 6pt, let him go, one 8pt, no shot. Still, the rut is ahead of usand I can't wait!!! :D

Was out opening weekend, October 1st and then both days this last weekend. Might go out this weekend.

Boy I was thinking I was the only person with a full schedule. I work first shift, my wife works second shift and we have 3 girls: 10, 3, 2.

Most of you are lucky!! Due to my Manitoba Waterfowl Hunt, Work and Family I have been out once! This sucks!

I have ben out for 2 hunts so far and no luck.But this happens to me every year here in michigan.So this year i am taken it easy until oct 30.Thats about the time I start seeing the Big Bucks come out anyways. Its tuff, because every time I see a leaf fall off a tree I want to go hunting.But like I tell my hunting buddes,I am waiting for the pre rut and when it hits I know where I will be and until then the deer can run around my treestands all day and all night.I am not looking to shot 4 or 6 pointers I let them pass.I am waiting for the big one.I can always put meet in the frig in gun season.

Other than an elk hunt the 1st week of Sept I have only been out once and that doesn't look to increase much, very depressed over this.

Opened 10/1. Hunted 3 mornings(seen deer everytime), either not legal or no shot. Hunted 2 evenings,(have not seen a deer). Scouted 1 evening and 2 mornings.

I have been out 8 times since our early opening day here in Nj on September 9th.8 times out and killed 3 deer. 2 Mature doe and an 8 pointer. Now I can not kill another Buck until October 28th. I am hunting every night though in my dreams.... man do I wake up tired.

I have hunted 12 days this year and our season opened on sept 30th. I got 1 doe so far and have 3 more tags available to fill. I get out most days after work. I work 6am- 2pm and can be in my stand in about 45 minutes. I love those hours. And of course I hunt all day on saturdays, no sunday hunting here in PA.

Seaon started Sept 15th, was in the woods every night except one till Oct 3 when I ran out of tags. I've been scouting pretty hard for my son, who gets hiscrack at his first deer tomorrow...sposed to be brutally windy though.

To you guys with the little ones running around, time flies by so quickly. Before you know it those kiddos of yours will grown and you willmiss the timewhen they were little guys (I know I do.)

Been out 13 times since opener on October 1 - seen multiple deer every time but twice.

Most everyone here seems fairly dedicated to bowhunting - but I'm surprised to see many have only been out a handful of times - come on boys - if this is your passion - you gotta find a way to get out there. Okay - back to reality, kids, wife, work, bills....

Here is a somwhat related question, how many keep a journal/log/diary of each hunt? I've been doing this lately and I find it really helps to pattern the deer movement, times of movement, etc.

I'm leaving Tuesday Oct 24 For a 6 day Hunt in Adams County Illinois on private land. They've been seeing some Monsters down there this summer. I'll be hunting all day for 6 straight days in bowhunting paradise. So I really can't complain too much. The best part is I'm taking my dad with me. It's his first out of state bowhunt. I hope he gets a nice buck.

I haven't been out nearly as much as I would like to have. I've been out about10 times so far, one full day and the rest half days. Most times I hunt the afternoons. This place I hunt only a half hour or so from my house (my other spots are further away) I have hunted 3 afternoons, but only saw one deer. The place is loaded with sign though, and the landowner is having a problem with deer eating his landscaping... I'm thinking I may see more if I hit that area in the morning, so thats what I plan to do tomorrow... My buddy who lives there was supposed to go with me, but he has some hot water heater troubles, he just called me to cancel. I may try to get out anyway, but if I dont I'll hunt with him in the afternoon again. I can't hunt Sundays in CT, thats where most of my spots are. One out of the 3 I've been to I've seen deer every time out, usually with at least one within range, but I've botched a couple shots so far (all does). I was going to go there today, but the forecast was for very high winds, so I figure I'll take an afternoon off of work and give it a shot during the week. To take the edge off of not hunting today, I got my slug gun and ML zeroed in, I'm a happy camper with those results PLUSThere are Turkey Tracks all over the rifle range! This spring could get interesting :)

Our season started on 10/14 I went out on the 16th and shot a doe which I snuck up on after being in the woods for 10 mins.I have not bow hunted since 1996 so i was a bit quick on the trigger:D. I went out 2 days ago and we had a heavy downpour and 40 mph gust of winds therefore I only hunted for 2 hours.Yesterday was windy with gust up to 30mph but I saw 3 deer so I was happy. as you can tell I am going out this am. So i guess this makes 4 times.
