Pictures of Infected Deer
Does anyone here have pictures of deer with CWD or any of the other diseases like TB or other?
I'm asking because the deer I helped field dress last weekend had these small black pellets imbedded near the heart. Also the deer that I butchered last week also had these in the membrane near the neck. Both deer came out of the same area. Thanks Tom |

Nope sorry I dont have any.

RE: Pictures of Infected Deer
I think I know exactly what you're referring to. Last year a doe I shot had these in her abdominal cavity, like on the top membrane area along the spine. I don't know what it is, but she has been consumed and I'm still alive and healthy. :)

A Buckshot poacher perhaps?

RE: Pictures of Infected Deer
Could they be Prions?
Check out this article guys. http://www.ncagr.com/vet/meat_poultry/cwd.htm I haven't been able to verify it with a picture yet though. Tom |
RE: Pictures of Infected Deer
Prion is short for proteinaceous infectious particle . It's a protein. I doubt thats what you saw. Are you sure it wasn't shotbun pellets? I got a doe once with them in her hind quarters.

RE: Pictures of Infected Deer
Prions are microscopic, you wouldn't see them and they're only found in the brain and spinal cord.
Check out these pics of TB: GROSS! http://www.michigan.gov/emergingdise...6392--,00.html |
RE: Pictures of Infected Deer
Wow do I feel better! Nope definetly not shotgun pellets. I'm 100% on that one.

RE: Pictures of Infected Deer
What I saw was definitely not shotgun pellets. The description of prions sounds right but Trembow says they're microscopic.
These were like black, round or oval shaped tissues attached to the membrane. About the size of a rabbit poop. Does that sound right Statjunk? |
