That is exactly what I'm talking about RedHawk. I sure would like to know what they are. BTW - I'm not worried about being infected because otherwise the deer looked 100% fine. Did your deer look fine otherwise?

If someone here doesn't offer up the info I'm going to call DNR tomorrow.

I know just what you're talking about, but I have no idea what it is. Every deer and most of the hogs Ive killed/butchered have had these little things in them. Otherwise, the animal looked healthy. So far, noone's been sick as a result of eating meat from such an animal....at least not to my knowledge.

Kind Regards,
Axel

Most likely Lymph Nodes. Did they appear to be in a chain and attatched to each other? If they were they are small lymph nodes. You can't see prions, they are microscopic.

Yep, looked and tasted fine. Don't know what it is, but I think I remember seeing it on a deer many years ago so I did'nt worry toomuch about it.

Saw the same thing on a buck that I shot once, Only mine did have an infection. he had a broadhead lodged in his shoulder blade looked like it was about 2wks old (the wound) I was told by the game commission not to eat him and was issued a new tag. The spots where all over the cavity walls after I field dressed him.

Motown,

That isn't it. These look more like an oddly shaped black bean strung in a sting sort of membrane. I'm going to call DNR in a couple of hours and see if I can get someone to give me an answer.

Tom
