4 more days to close the book on another great bowseason ....
it felt like yesterday that we all were in here saying i can't wate intill it starts now there is 4 days left... as this season ends we will look back at the buck we saw and the bucks we missed but will allways remember the bucks or does we have got ... another great year in the dook and can't wateintill next year !!!!!.....

Like I said in the other NY bowseason post, I'm a little bummed. The rut was practically non-existant in my area. I did get my first buck with a bow however so it's all good. <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Rather than post a new topic, I know there are not a whole heck of a lot of NYS hunters here. But I was just wondering if anyone has ever hunted Bear Swamp. It is public land I think 5000 acers, it Tompkins county. I am not planing on hunting it this year but maybe next year. Does it get real busy? I know a bunch of monsters are taken out every year..

i am headin to the southern zone to catch the last 3 days of the season and go in to rifle i have been hunting long island alot to no aveil but been seein deer everytime out there.. long island bow season does not end till dec 31st

For those of us who have tags and are really glutton for punishment, don't forget the late bow....brrrrrrr

Also, in the late season, you can fill your Regular season buck tag with a bow - don't forget. Some of us just might pass up a couple younger ones with a gun to take advantage of the late season BP/Bow hunt, now that we have the chance.

Well I have to count this as my best bow season ever, I got my first bowkill, what a thrill, nice FAT doe!! BP opened last week and closes this week, I am hunting a whole new place and even though I know there are a ton of deer I am basically hunting/scouting so this year may not be my first BP kill, but then gun last through Jan 4 so I still have a lot of time left!

I live down in the city, so it was hard for me to get out this year. I was only able to get out twice for bow, and only saw 1 deer. It was a nice looking 5 pointer that snuck in behind me from a pine stand. Never heard him coming until he was on top of me. I turned to look, he saw me and was gone in a flash never to be seen again.

on the bright side the gun season opener is a few days away, but I have no doe tags this year, so that just lowers my chances even more.

It seems like we wait forever for our seasons to come around, and when they do, its over in a flash. Our seasons should be longer.

I don't understand it. We are supposed to have one of the highest deer populations in the country, yet our bow and gun seasons are only a month long each.

Some of these other states allow you to take 4,5,6 even 10 deer a year or more!!! If not then they have season that last a few months. I'd much rather have only a week or two of gun at the end of December or something, and like 2 full months of bow. They gotta make some more changes with the seasons or be moreliberal with the bag limits.
