Default Explain let off to me please

Okay, so I've been bow hunting for 3 years now, and I've heard the term and see it on my bow specs, but I don't exactly know what it means. So, I'm curious, what does the term "let off" represent? I have 70% on my Browning Rage, but have no idea what that means to me. lol

It means just what it implies. When you draw your bow back you'll notice it gets easier at or near the end of the draw. That's the let off. It makesit easier for holding the string for longer periods of time. Hope this helps?

If you are pulling a bow that has a draw weight of 60 lbs and it has a let off of 65% then you are actually holding 21 lbs at full draw--65% is 39 lbs, subtracted from 60 leaves 21--comprende horita?

The 70% also means that if you want to enter an animal into Pope and Young you will get a lovely asterix next to it because your letoff is greater than 65%.

Yep, as the others said, it's what you are holding at full draw. For you that would be 16.5 lbs.

55 lbs x .70 = 38.5 lbs
55 lbs - 38.5 lbs= 16.5 lbs

I much prefer the math this way: 55lbs x .30 = 16.5

Anyhoo, hope this helped you.

Okay, so... let me see if I got it right...

I am pulling 55#, my let off is 70%, so I am really only holding back 16.5# at full draw? That's why it's so easy to hold it for so long! Huh, learn something new every day. lol

Thanks!

Just draw a recurve back to your present draw length and it'll be much more evident.[8D]
