Re: Thread titled "2 minutes.....2 bucks."
And then along came the philosopher, called davidmil. davidmil has provided proof in the pudding, that about the time you think you are one of the fastest guns in town, is when you can be caught off guard and someone dumps your butt with David’s rock and sling. Allow me time to get up and brush my butt off, I have a few things to say.
In just a few words, simply said and to the point, davidmil’s post in the above stated thread, swiftly and unexpectedly whisked me back to a time from whence I have long traveled. The memories that instantly emerged was so profoundly nostalgic, I, admittedly, acquired a lump in my throat.
I can easily recall all the intellectual aspects of those times, and I am well aware of my present knowledge and skills acquired through years of trial and error. However, as it is with many veterans, I boxed up and stored away the stupid mistakes and bad choices I made during my travels, because that is what veterans are supposed to do...isn’t it?
Aren’t we (veterans) suppose to pass on only the good stuff and not cloud the information with our personal mistakes and bad choices? Besides, in order to represent myself as a knowledgeable and skilled archer and bowhunter so that my advice and my opinions appear credible and wise, am I not suppose to refrain from providing details that reveals I was once a bumbling novice, that I did not just wake up one morning with the knowledge and skills I possess today?
I can answer my own questions. No!
I was mentally inundated with so many stories that revealed incompetent archery and reprehensible and unethical hunting acts and beliefs -compounded by what I witness in the real world, that I took a bad shot at someone while my brain was out of tune and my tongue (fingers) were not the correct spine. I could cop a story and say that the person walked into my line fire meant for someone else, but that would be not be the truth. I put my pin dead on the person.
Before I present my apology to Ladybowhunter38 and her family, know these things.
When I have something to say, I do not do so believing I know it all or more than most. I only do so as part of the recipe that everyone puts in the pot. Intending only to assist in providing new information and new thoughts to the already skilled archers and bowhunters - and to receive in return, and to (hopefully) help the new archers and bowhunters to get to where I and other veterans are at without having to experience all of the headaches and bumps and bruises we did.
In fact, to gloat a wee bit, many of you (newer)archers and bowhunters will never experience many of the enjoyable and memorable experiences that we vets had as we traveled the road of creation. The mistakes we made and the laughing at ourselves is, and will forever remain, an integral part of the history we have.
Furthermore, my primary objective is to preserve for tomorrow what we have all have enjoyed to date. Unabashedly I say, were it not for the archers/bowhunters of yesterday, and yesterday is never-ending, you would not have and enjoy what you do today -or tomorrow. Like the captain said to Private Ryan, but with an addendum, ”Earn it..... and preserve it.”
So, without a second thought, and with true sincerity, I extend to you, Ladybowhunter38, and your family, a full apology and a belated but resounding congratulations to your dad-in-law. I have no doubt that you and yours will learn from any mistakes or bad choices you might make without being flogged to do so. I did/do
PS: To all; do not make the mistake that this apology and retraction means that I will not have my brain in tune and take a shot at you, including you Ladybowhunte38 (I never grant total immunity) if you present yourself as a deserving target. I would never claim that I never miss, I just do not miss very often.

c903, you have done what I didn't believe could happen. You have truly impressed me with your maturity and wisedom. I agree with Grim on keeping your thoughts true to yourself. Again you have earned my respect.

I am a little surprised as well as I never saw this one coming. I better go take a look at what David posted....
....and, sorry, but I am going to do a little finnagling (spelling?) with your title....

c903 first I will take my hat off to you, then I am going to give you a big SALUTE! We all at times can go over board sometimes stating our opinions, and upon rethinking what we said realize it was for the situation to much to say. It takes a man to apoligize and you are one.
