Shot one in WV this past weekend at our farm for the opener. Am holding out for the 150 class 10 point by my house in PA. Saw him twice, but no dice yet. In WV on Sat, I saw three nice bucks in the am, and fifteen does. That evening I saw twenty-eight does, two spikes, and this guy. Didn't want to make the 8 hour round trip and go home with no meat, so I shot him...6 yards. That leaves me with two more archery tags, so I have some hunting left to do. This guy came in at about 5pm on a runway, and when he came to a dead fall that lays in front of my stand, he came on the near side, and actually brushed against my ladder. I thought about jumping down on its back...just to say I did, but opted for the shot instead. Double lung, went 30 yards. First buck of 2006...just thought I'd share.
