Default Rubber boot squeaks ??

Question for you veteran bow hunters.please

My boots make too much noise when climbing. I use those green La Crosse rubber boots. Do any of you guys take your boots off at the stand and just use your socks or change into tennis shoes.? Those boots are great for the swamps but noisy when climbing.

I have LaCrosse boots and mine are quiet as a mouse. Which ones do you have?

What part of your boot is sqeaking?

I wear boots similar to the ones you have in the picture. Mine came from the COOP fertlizer/feed store.

Your toes and feet are going to freeze if you take your boots off. I don't think tennis shoes is a good idea either. Shoes stink and they let the smell/scent escape. Rubber boots help contain the scent. Thats one of the reasons I like them.

LOL My friend Strut from Missouri sent them to me. He works at a feed store. I love them. In Florida ..your feet won't freeze but you do got a point about the smell. It just seems like my tennis shoes would fit better in the stirrups of my Summit and I could manipulate the stand more quieter. From a recent article I read in Florida Fish and Games it says to tuck your pants into your boots and the rubber should keep that part of your body more scentless than regular shoes especially leather which absorbs odors. That's what I read anyway.

Sorry ..I almost missed your question. The boots won't fit into the stirrups. Size 13. I have to put my boots undr the cable and lift up.

I don't know what climbing tree stand you have, not very familar with climbing tree stands anyways. Is there anyway to redo the stirups so they are bigger? You might try putting something between the boots and the cable. Like a piece of cloth? Maybe take some Duct tape and wrap the cables? You just need something between the boots and the cables so they don't rub when you climb.

Tucking your pants into your boots just helps contain that scent. Also any thing those rubber boots brush up against won't leave any scent behind. If your pants are outside the boots then they can leave scent behind if the pants brush against stuff.

Hope this helps. Chief

Your boots must not be the right size.

Thanks fellows.I appreciate the feedback. I'm working on noise control. I'm trying to eliminate all possible noises.

So far climbing the pine tree is the noisiest. I may switch to a near by water oak. The crunching of dry bark on a pine tree is very loud. In Missouri I use a white oak....very quiet. To be honest with ya ..I think the problem is my Summit bites down to deep into the bark. This makes me have to use extra pull to loosen the bottom part of the stand.when climbing. This is causing the noise. I'm a heavy man so the teeth of the stand easily goes into the bark 3/4 of an inch..whereas the oak trees go in about 3/8ths. I believe switching trees would solve the problem. Thanks for helping me think this one out.

Use some sort of......I don't know...something to tie around the tops of the boots to keep them tight against your leg....A small dog collar maybe. Most rubber boots of course have a little adjustment, but my biggest problem with them is the tops of them "smacking" my leg as I walk. I use an old shoestring, but I just thought of the dog collar and that would probably work.

I seriously think switching to an oak tree instead of a long leaf pine would cure the problem. When I'm in MO I'm quiet a mouse. These Florida pines have no lower limbs so they are great in that aspect..the stand also locks in like a weld but the bark is very loose and crackily. You can rip 1/2 slabs off with your bare hands. There are a few oaks close by. I plan to move my stand. When the stand hangs up on in the bark it takes more upper movement on the boot..alot more.
