I hit a doe last friday night in Conn.I must have hit a branch. The arrow hit far down the body and high. The arrow passed through to the hind quarter on the other side.I was scared I hit the gut. When I found the arrow,it had nice bright blood. It also bled like a stuffed pig.I found my deer 50yds.TOPS.When I looked up deer vitals online the kidney is dead smack where the arrow landed. The point of the story is don't panic till you look for blood.Im sure a artery was hit in thehind leg as well.Still got EM!

Just took a buck last night and made virtually the same shot. Up and down was fine, but it entered about halfway between the back of the rib cage and the front of the ham, exited the ham on the opposite side. Bled something terrible (good) for about 30-40 yards and dropped. The hair on the entire groin region and inside of the legs was SOAKED with blood when I found him. The processor told me the femoral artery, but I'm not sure. Either way, something definitely fatal.
