An IN-SEASON REMINDER
#1
Hey guys and girls I just wanted to take this time to remind you to keep practicing shooting your bows throughout the season. I know it is hard to find the time since every moment you are either doing housework, going to work or hunting. But trust me your shooting skills will get rusty without practice and your muscles will weaken. Maybe buy a small portable target to throw in the vehicle and take a few shots before you head to your stand. Or use that day or days you don't go hunting to take a few shots at home in the evening after work or maybe take some shots in the morning before work. It doesn't matter when, just find the time to do it. It only take 10-15 minutes a time to keep your self sharp. It may mean the difference between making that perfect shot on that record buck you've been chasing during the rut and making a very poor shot or missing all together. So folks take the time to take a few shots a week so when the moment of truth arrives you'll be ready.

Great advice. Sunday I was sending ACC's tipped with my field points into a McKenzie out at 40 yards from my deck.....
I moved this deer out to 40 yards.

That would be the next tree back over the deers head.

I was doing the same thing Sunday except I had My Chek-Mate Hunter II Recurve slinging Goldtip traditional Xt's at 20yds. [8D] Keep up the practice folks and it will pay off for you!

fshafly2, you bring up a great point. before and in season I always try to practice with my feet close together like I would be standing on a platform. Or better yet If you have a stand to practice out of that is also great. also because I hunt from the ground sometimes I practice shooting from sitting and kneeling positions also. But the main thing is keep practicing. I really think a lot of misses and wounding shots this time of year are from guys not practicing for weeks and as the season goes on and it gets colder and they add more layers, and when the moment of truth arrives they are not used to shooting with all those layers on. Well unfortunately that is not the case here in PA temps in the 50-60 degree range[:'(][:@] But that is another story.
