RE: Done in Missouri!

I'm happy as heck for you and it's a great buck.... but to be done? Man, the more I think about it... you've screwed up.[8D][8D][8D]
Read the rest of the thread, Mr. David... Done in MISSOURI, just gettin' started with my real hunting. ;)I'll be heading to Illinois from now on, where I'm allowed unlimited does (good thing too, because -- boy, I love shooting deer with my bow!) and I'll be holding out for another book buck over there. I've let three in the past two years walk as big or bigger than this guy, and it's the same land I took my 162-class a couple years ago... Time for patience and discipline now.

Congrats on a great buck!! I personally like the 3rd photo best.....with your mug covered....LOL...j/k of course.
mobow, why didn't I see that coming from you? [8D]I couldn't help honoring a friend of mine on here though whom I deeply respect, even if it wasin a fun-loving sorta way...

Congrats on a fine buck and I think I mentioned this earlier but that little boy of yours is adoreable. He will be a fine hunter one day!:D
early in, I do remember you saying so earlier... but I still appreciate you taking the time to say it again. We think he's pretty awesome... God blessed us with him after 5 1/2 years of infertility challenges; met a nice couple at a gas station travelling one weekend who were on their way back from a Kreflow Dollar healing seminar, and they asked if they could pray for us. We found out later that we got pregnant that weekend.

We had been told previously that we had less than a one percent chance of getting pregnant; I told the doctors they didn't know the same God we served...

Would that be in honor of this beautiful entry from last year's contest from AE?

Don't want to hijack the thread, keep correspondance to Greg's...that picture is from last years contest from another member, the in honor of picture in Greg's third pic...I think and it's a nice touch both ways. The only difference is AR is wearing an ASAT hat and Greg wouldn't get caught dead in that..LOL ;)[8D]:D

Not that I wouldn't put my stamp of approval on ASAT as a pattern... I just couldn't wear it for the same reason I can't buy any new clothes that aren't Ralph Lauren... they just wouldn't match anything I've already got! [8D]

Hey Hazcon, offer still stand? :)I need a mailing address! :D

Oh my goodness!!! What a beauty! Congratulations Greg, you my friend, need no mentoring from me, I have yet to pull the string back on a buck this season. I was admiring your kill and your camo as the computer was loading the photos. Can I assume your lovely wife took them? They are outstanding. When the last one loaded I wasn't prepared for the shock...

Dude your third photo and kind comments just absolutely blew me away!!! Iam telling yaI almost fell off my chair here. I really don't know what to say, you are killing me here;)...You are a class act buddy, I mean that sincerely! Your kind gesture humbles me greatly, thank you.

I was also touched by the story of your son....What a wonderful reminder of what the Almighty can do if we can find the faith to believe....

Congratulations again on a fine kill, an outstanding story, and some wonderful photographs. This site is lucky to have you buddy.......

Greg.....I don't know what to say. This place seems to bring me in contact with some of the most quality people I've ever met. Reading your story about your son.....just solidifies that even more.

CONGRATULATIONS on a beautiful buck, buddy. I'm happy for you (in MANY aspects).

I hope you shot him out of that stand I sent you!

Sincerely,

Jeff

congrats greg!! great buck, any word on score yet??
Ed, I came up with 104 7/8...

GregH, you'd prefer "I shot a deer tonight"? :eek:I assure you, I'm not "trying out" for anything; I come by it honestly.

Perhaps you didn't read my bio when the Farbman puppets had me all riled up... http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=1655722&mpage=1&key=Farbman& #1655722

No, I wouldn't prefer that extreme either, just something a little less dramatic than " the ghostly face and accompanying antlers" kind of writing. For me that's a little over the top. It is also the main reason I stopped subscribing to D&D Hunting. I'm the bottom line kind of guy and prefer short, detailed and to the point writing. Something I can learn from more than beautiful words strung together to be admired. That's why I switched to Whitetail Hunting Strategies and North American Whitetail.

No, I'm sorry I didn't read your Bio or anybody elses for that matter.

I'm sure people will enjoy enjoy your eloquent and beautiful writing style. After all, you come by it honestly and told us it was decent. I believe you. Best of all it is free.;)

From my point of view, I learned of an almost supernatural deer, its approach, the tense wait for the shot and then what kind of performance your broadhead gave you. That's great and it was a good story, but what, where, how and whywere you hunting There? Was it trails from feeding to bedding? Was it a funnel? I guess I'm looking for the strategy that allowed you to take that nice buck. You asked me what I'd prefer and this is what I prefer.

Nice deer and nice pictures... congrats;)

Rack, I'm chatting with Matt / PA... he swears I messed up measuring him too! :DWho knows? I've never measured one before; I usually leave that to my taxidermist if I'm gonna mount them... and this guy's defiinitely too small for that after the last couple from Illinois...

I was guessing 110 before I tried to measure him; I'm sure I screwed it up somehow... [8D]

Again, consistently putting them down. Nice to see the kids involved. As for 104, looks bigger than that...gross

Well written as always. Thanks for sharing. I hope to join you this season in the buck tag filled catagory.

Greg / MO 10-14-2006 08:20 AM

RE: Done in Missouri!

Nubo,

Thanks a lot, buddy! Yeah, that camo IS awesome, isn't it? I've gone to Predator exclusively these days.. What you see me wearing there is Predator Spring Green, which I wear until the majority of the foliage disappears. Then, I switch to Fall Gray sometime in late November or early December. In case you haven't seen it, here's how awesome a job it does at literally obliterating the human outline:

To tell you the truth, both patterns look pretty much the same in black and white so I would feel extremely comfortable wearing either at any time of the year (in fact for the last few years, I wore Fall Gray year-round). The color tones, for me, have more to do with hiding me fromother hunters whomight happen to wander too close to my stand.

A lot has been madeabout the liklihood of"getting caught wearing the wrong color" in the woodsin camo discussions on other threads... I guess I don't understand that reasoning;it's pretty easy for me to tell when most of the leaves have dropped before heading out to the woods; amazingly, all of our local trees seem to drop all their leaves at the same time the trees where I hunt an hour away do as well. [8D]The transition period between full foliage and bare limbs would be perfect for wearing either pattern.

Call Predator at608-787-0500 and ask for Ginny; tell her Greg sent you, and that you want some camo as awesome-looking as his! ;)

Seriously though, thanks again for the compliments... and I'm glad you enjoyed the accompanying story.
