This year, PA is holding a 2 day black bear bow hunt for Nov. 15 and 16. Have been hunting bear since 1992 and have never harvested a bear yet but I've come close. (That was with rifle) We only have a 3 day rifle season. Who else is going to be bear hunting in this new bow season?

If I see a bear during regular archery season I might go. I really wish they would let you bear hunt during regular archery season even if it was only a week or so. In VA you could shoot a turkey deer or bear all during the same season. I almost got a shot at one In VA but it wouldn't come closer than 70 yrds.

Bear hunting is something that I've always wanted to do. Especially now that we get a couple days for archery only. Only problem is that I'm admittingly dumb when it comes to bear hunting. Haven't the slightest idea where I'd even go to hunt. Around the areas in 2B where I hunt it's very rare to see a bear unless you're at the Pittsburgh Zoo.

I can't think of a single archery season when I haven't seen at least one bear. I didn't however buy a bear tag. Unless I go with a great group, I think I've shot my first and only bear.

Jeramy, I forgot to mention that the bow season is in certain management zones. Looks like all of them are north of interstate 80. I always rifle hunt for bear in forest county, a friend of mine lives up there and lets me put my camper on his property.I am sure if you can hunt deer, then bear would be just the same. I am just going to hunt the sign on the trails between the thickets and the food sources. Hopefully I might see something, if not I will be just as satisfied knowing that I am bear hunting with my bow.
