When hunting do you camp in a tent or trailer or a Holiday Inn? After 15 yrs.ruffing it out in a tent,Im up grading to a mid-size pop-up or a hard sided trailer ,which one would you prefer?Of course w/a heater<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>sink,shower,toilet,lights,stove,comfe y beds,screen room-or awning,oh man.... its hard to decide!<img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle>

My father used to hunt Western Maryland out of a pop-up but,went to a 24'Sunline trailer which was a big improvement.Much more warmer and easier to set up.

Been hunting for over 40 years and 12 with bow. Have used a tent all but a few years when my buddy will take his old pop up. I am starting to think about a newer pop up or a really old 16' trailer that I can fix up. I do like to get back in away from people so a motorhome or big trailer won't work. As I get older the tent just doesn't look the same. Good luck.

Over the last few years, I have not had the opportunity to camp in anything but a tent or as is the case now, i have a F-250 Super Duty with a fiberglass shell that I stay in. It's fine for just me but when the wife and kids want to go , it's obviously impossible. We have to beg or borrow for someone's trailer. After last year's episode, I would definitely recommend a hard side trailer over a pop up. Normally it is not really cold in Texas, but last year we were all staying in a pop up and a major cold front blew in and it was snowing. It took (2) 1500 watt heaters and electric blankets to stay somewhat confortable in the pop up. Earlier in the year we used a hard sided trailer and (1) heater kept the trailer more than comfortable.

It depends on the hunt. In late October last year, three of us set up a Northface 3 man tent on the shore and stashed gear for a base camp. We hiked a couple miles up and into the mountains and set up another 3 man northface tent. We proved that three guys can sleep in a 3 man tent, but we were packed in like sardines. 5 nights on the mountains with that one.

In July and August we set up three tents for our caribou hunting camp. I've gone out at night after caribou, and came back home the same day as well.

In Montana this Sept. we set up two large canvas wall tents, one for cooking and one for sleeping. It felt like the lap of luxioury! We thought about setting up a smaller tent to get out earlier in the morning, but didn't mind the mile long downhill walk in the dark.

Our old moose cabin burnt down a couple summers ago in some wildfires. It was a small cabin, but very comfortable and had heat and propane for cooking. That to me was one of the best hunting camps that I have been at. It's a shame it all burnt to the ground.

My favorite type is probably setting up tents, making a fire pit and roughing it in the middle of nowhere with a river running near by and the boat sitting idle in the water. Nothing like watching the northern lights overhead, and heading to be waiting for the next days hunt.

depends on what were are hunting sometimes a motel which great,sometimes a pull camper for weekend hunts which makes it easier,but not as good as motel with a good food place around. but if were going into the high country then it is a outfitters tent all the way for me.

jees HH, come on up, we'll show ya what real ruffing it is lol! How about 6&quot;es of now in early august, filtering water twice a day, walking miles to get to water...eating dehydrated food for 18 days, with minimal gear, and bear city! <img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>!

HHHMMMMMMMMMMMMM well lets see when I hunt I sleep in a king size waterbed, gas heat, jacuzzi, shower, kitchen, cable tv, vcr, etc., etc, Oh did I mention I do all of my hunting within 20-25 miles of home! If and when I decide to do some out of the area hunting though I would take my pop-up, it is old but it keeps me warm and it is a lot easier on an old mans back than a tent.

I'm sort of like how Tazman is (I also live about an hour south of him). I primarily hunt the WMA's here in Virginia. There are two nice ones are about 45 minutes away from my house, and another about an hour east of me.

They're okay, but very heavily hunted. To put it bluntly, if you ain't one of the first dudes to get there in the morning, you might as well go back home. <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle> I mean, I'm not dissing WMA's, but it's just that they could have something like 3000 acres (roughly 2 or 3 miles of terrain), and end up with 9000 hunters trying to get to <u>YOUR</u> spot.

For hunting Western MD, I first tent camped, then &quot;camped&quot; in the back of my truck (under the cap), then a friend offered me his 26' trailer which I used for several years. Then, a rich friend offered me the use of his 4500 sq. foot luxury timberframe vacation home on Deep Creek Lake. With all the gingerbread and extras, it's much nicer than the house I live in!!
