Default first deer with a bow

last night i was sitting in the deer stand and when i looked down the trail i seen 2 deer milling around. I thought they were going to walk right towards me but they turned right around and headed the other way. they were downwind of me. i got down and started to stalk after them. when i finally caught up to them, the little fawn was walking away and the other deer was facing away from me. the little doe trotted off the trail and the other deer just looked at me and stomped. I let my arrow fly and i hear a weird whooping sound. I thought i missed high and hit the rock behind the deer. I went to where the deer was standing and found my arrow....full of blood. 45 minutes later i found my deer (the trail wasn't to hard to follow....there was blood everywhere). I unfortuantly found out it was a yearling buck but i was more than happy because this is my first deer with a bow and i was starting to worry about my confidence. last year i missed a 8 point and i wasn't to happy.

but thats my story and i really don't care that it was a small deer.....a deer is a deer.

Way to goo!

What was the distance?
What broadhead were you using?
What did the deer weigh?
How far did it run from the shot spot?

Just curiosity on my part. I'm a meat hunter and anything is fair game for me come Oct. 7 here in VA.

Congratulations on your first buck by bow. Now you are hooked for life. Don't get yourself down for it being a yearling buck. You have to work yourself up, or shoot whatever makes you happy. Nicely done.
