That could be a good thing and a bad thing.

Just don't let them know you are the one that turned them in or they may interfere with your hunting area as payback.

Good job.

Tough luck,, it sucks you have to share your hunting land with people like that,, hopefully the officer will talk a little sense into them, and they will see the light of the legal way to do things.. Good luck to you.

Bummer. I hate poachers. I have a neighbor to the land where we hunt who kills 20 to 30 deer a year, sometimes on his land and sometimes on ours and sometimes in George Washington National Forest (it borders both of our land). It's a 2 hour drive to the land, so it's not like I can stay out there and wait for him.Fortunately, there are a lot of deer around there and not a lot of hunters in the immediate vicinity. There's no public access to the National Forest, other than through private land, for about 5 miles

The part that really pisses me off is taht he doesn't even like venison. He just likes to kill things. Please make sure they get scared by this. If they learn their lessons, then it may get them off the wrong track. And I agree with what ducsauce says: Don't let them find out it was you who turned them in.

Good luck!

So did they shoot it with a bow? I know it's not legal to bait but itsn't that just called illegal baiting.. I thought poaching was shooting out of season.. Or are you saying that any deer taken by stretching the rules is poaching.. Such as baiting, hunting as it's gettign dark, shooting from the road etc.. I mean I hunt by the law but I know some who have tossed out apples and shouldn't but I don't turn them in.. That's on them imo, I will feel better about being successful legally.. Anyway i'm glad you seen themand I don't agree with it either way but I was just curious about your meaning to the word poaching.

I also agree with with not letting them know who turned them in.. People do stupid stuff sometimes and if your all hunting in the same area I wouldn't want anyone getting hurt.. Or for an argument to break out and have both of you lose your hunting rights on this piece ofground.

nice nab,but there mite be a problem .what kind of camera did you use to get this pic? it will probably be OK ,if the CO gets them to confess but in a Court of law it most likely would have to have been a Polaroid to use as evidence.
