12pter....10yds...release loop broke

I rattled in a nice 12pointer and he got about 10 yds when i drew for the shot. I got half way back in my draw and my relase loop broke and the arrow sailed about 10 feet over him. I could have cried. That was the biggest deer i have ever seen and somethin like that had to happen. Its crazy

My buddy had a 150+ class buck broadside at 20 yards and had the pin that holds the head of his Scott Lil' Goose snap!!! He found his arrow about 100 yards out in the field. Never seen the buck again.

...Hmmm, by definition I would add that to the list on the "Murphy's Law" thread.

You have my sincere condolences.

Man, i'm really sorry to hear that. It makes me sick and I wasn't the one it happened to. Hope you get another chance. Good luck

Murphy joins me on my hunts too. Sorry to hear about that. Last year the rubber tube that aligns my peep snapped while I was at full draw.

Noise scarred the deer and my peep was sideways. Sucks. Made me go back to the recurve for a while...

Man I feel your pain, what should have been my first bowkill last year, never happened due to a stupid limb with dry leaves, the buck came in form exactly the opposite direction I expected, he was about 15-18 yards broadside and I came to full draw and just as I was bringing the pin onto his shoulder I hit this limb with my riser!!! The buck froze and stared right at me, I froze, after an eternity he started feeding again, I let down, took half a step back from the limb, he took 2 steps further, now he was 13-16 yards out now broadside, I came to full draw and the exact same thing happened again only this time he winded me and was gone!!!

I know your pain, hang in there, hopefully you will get another chance.

Sorry to hear of your bad luck, isn't odd that it only seems to happen to you on the biggest buck, things like this don't happen on does or if they do you can swallow it a little easier. Hang in there, I feel your pain. After 20 years it's amazing what can go wrong that shouldn't.

I had a friend back in the 60,s draw his 60 lb recurve back on a big buck and the bow broke in two. I knowed a guy that with his recurve shot and his bottom limb hit a limb in the tree and broke it and still hit the 10 pointer high but, killed it with about 3 inchs pentration. I have never had any problems that way in the 38 year of bowhunting. Make sure before you go that ever thing is in good shape. I have been using the tied in loop 8 years now and have never had one brake.

I had a big ol' 12pointer at 25yds and he was too into a doe and I couldnt get him to stop He was prolly a 140class buck. Man, I was at full draw when he came out and just kept going. I was happy to see him but disapointed that he wouldnt stop. Woulda had a 25yd quarting away shot

I deffinetley know how you feel. I had this happen to me on a six point. He was only 8yds away and I drew my bow back to find out that my arrow was sitting between my rest and bow, but not on my TM hunter rest like it was supposed to be. I didnt get a shot because he took off when I let my draw up and to fix my arrow and the arrow fell to the ground to scare him off. Lesson learned, but will never forget that particular hunt always haunts me. I feel for ya

The biggest one I ever saw I was at 18 yards broadside. I was 20 feet up and my bow was 20 feet down. So after I jumped on the arrow and killed myself........

I feel your pain. No I don't... you have it all to yourself. What a bummer. Was it new or was it worn and you just put off replacing it? Either way ......... the timing sucks. Did you bust your lip too?

Cornfed thats the release i use i hope it dont happen to me!

i had a nice nontypical ten pointer 5 yards from me last year to my left i swung around and drawed at teh same tiem and didnt see the big limb right above me until my bow hit it and spooked the buck, i also had a decent eight pointer below me one day and went to draw and my release hit my jacket andslugn teh arrow right under him

That sucks! But thats bow huntin for ya. If it always the same and went good everytime it wouldnt be as fun! I cant believe i just said that seems how this is a very nice buck but i guess shooting them isnt the only fun part of the hunt.

That kind of makes you wish that you took just one less practice shot in the preseason.

Sorry for the joke at a time of mourning hope you get another shot at him.
