For me I start at 5 yds after all the tuning has been done. I than step back to 20 using the same pin. after that I set the next pin about 1/8" below and move back 10 more yards and so on

One thing to remember you must move your pin towards your group.

example if your hitting low from your aiming point than you must move your pin down.

Dont forget your string is going to stretch big time so at first don't worry if your hitting the bulls eye. just get it to hit paper and then put about a 100 arrows threw it. then the next day sight it in and do it again then if it holds the point your good but it'll probably move a bit again. after your sighted in with your field points shoot some broad heads see if they fly the same this may need tweeking . that said have fun

You have some good advice from the other posters. Start in close, good form, adjust your pin, confirm your form and placement. Master the 5-10 yard shot, then move out to 15-20 and so on. Practice, practice, practice.

Sighting in a new bow can be frustrating or it could be done rather quickly without little trouble. But, stick with it and eventually you will have everything just right and success will soon follow. Also, handle your bow carefully when in the field and during transport and you might not have to adjust your pins for many years!!

Adjusting your pins:

If you hit high, move the pin up and if you hit low, move it down.

If you hit to the right, move the pin to the right, if you hit left, move it to the left.

Always move your pins in the direction you're missing. This will allow your shots to converge.

Bmac, I've got a new bow last week and have been shooting about 20 arrows every night to get the bow broke in before 10/14 opener. I started at 5 yards and now have my 20 yard pin set. Next is 30 yards. GOOD LUCK!
