Would you??

Do not look at the size of the animal, but more how he is standing.

Would you take a shot with a bow at 25yds?

This is what I was given on staurday.....this is not the animal just a picture I found my bull was standing inbetween two tress?

Thanks

I wouldn't shoot. I know of two people who were presented with just such a shot. Both of them tried it. One guy's arrow got stopped by the brisket and they didn't find the bull. The other guy nailed the neck and hit the main vein, and the bull died quick. But I don't think it's a high percentage shot.

You will lose a deer more often than not when you shoot them in the brisket at that angle....My uncle would shoot that animal in the neck...that' shim. I would wait for a broadside shot or no shot.

Tough call. When I was 15 I shot a deer that way and never found it. Don't think I would take the shot with a bow for sure, rifle, different story I think, especially if it was from up close. I think it would be one of those snap decisions though.

RE: Would you??

Definitely not. It's a low percentage shot because the most likely outcome is you'll hit one lung and the paunch behind. The arrow may or may not exit. Then you'll have a horrible blood trail that is lengthy and may not lead to a recovered animal.

I had pretty much the same shot two years ago on a trophy whitetail. I was at full draw for an eternity at 20 yards and felt confident in my ability to hit a 1 1/2" spot every time. I resisted the temptation to shoot because I knew the possible result could be. Never got the buck, but never wounded it either.
