The can. It works!!

Went out last night with my primos can call in my pocket for the first time. At 5:00 I spotted a buck about 80 yards away. I gave the can one turn and the buck looked towards me and ran to within 40 yards. After stopping just out of range I gave the call one more turn. It brought the 10 pointer within 10 yards. After being at full draw for about 20 minutes(ok 3 or 4) the buck turned and walked away from me. Left with only a butt shot I passed him up. All in all one hell of a hunt.

Thanks for the info. I have been hearing similar situations regarding the can. I think I'll go pick one up.

I use 'The Can' from Primos and I won't go hunting without it. I've called in 1 real nice 8 point buck twice and a smaller but still respectable 8 point with it once. It really does work. It's a great tool, especially for the beginner, like me. LOL The only reason I haven't shot a buck is my scent, not 'The Can'. It keeps bringing them in.

Same for me. 4 pointer was at 40 to 50 yards out heading the opposite direction I hit the can call twice he stopped turned his head and came within 10 yards of me sitting in ground blind.

Well since I fully believe in the "never let your equipment hold ya back" philosophy I just might have to get one of those.

No wonder the guy at the proshop always says "Cha-ching" whenever I walk in the door.

There is no other call that matches the can. It works especially well when a buck is looking for a hot doe.

eddiee my hat is off to you, I know how hard it is to pass up a nice buck at 10 yards when you really don't have a shot! It is hard, but it is part of being an ethical bow hunter! Oh yea I don't use the can, I use a truetalker, but a buck prefers a girlfriend over a fight any day of the week. I stick with doe bleats unless I can not get them interested, a grunt is my last resort.

Coincidently, I used my "can" for the first time two evenings ago. I saw a deer about 100 yards off, so I grunted a few times. This got the deer coming towards me. It turns out, it was a doe that responded to the grunt (she must be getting close to being ready). She was a smart older doe and she saw me in the stand and although she didn't bolt, about 40 yards out she decided to circle me to get my scent. It was real thick on the route she took and I don't shoot that far anyway. After about 10 minutes I decided to give the can a flip. I bleated twice and put it away. About 30 seconds later a nice large buck came down the same trail the doe had taken. He was running with his nose down! He just knew that doe was calling his name. Unfortunately he took the same route she did, and never came within range. I tried the can again and grunted, but the buck thought he was already on the right trail. He wouldn't come in. About 5 minutes later I see the doe sprinting back on the original trail, I assume in an attempt to get away from the buck. I'm guessing he was overly assertive when he finally caught up to her.

Anyway, this convinced me that this is a great aid during the rut or immediately before it.
