All I can think about is hunting. There hasn't been 10 minutes that have gone by that I haven't thought about where I want to put a stand. Or what I can do for scouting some more before the season hits.
I think my girlfriend is kinda getting upset with it. We were driving in the car the other day and she was telling me something, which I responded to and followed up with "man I hope I can get a couple more stands before the season hits" She sorta flipped a little and said that is all I have been thinking about lately. Then a couple days later I was just dazing off and she said, "are you thinking about hunting again"...I said "No, not again, I haven't stopped thinking about it" then started laughing, she sorta chuckled too. But I don't know guys, hopefully it doesnt ruin what I have..but I will never let anything ruin my hunting for the rest of my life..but I think she can deal with that. I just won't let her know that I am already thinking about where I can start a couple food plots next year.

Tell ya what sound slike you got a good thing going there. Try getting her involved in our wonderful tradition. It will help her understand why we do it and why it is that we think abotu it so often, The peacfulness, being around good friends and family, the feeling you get when you see that buck of a lifetime, or heck any deer for that matter. You two will get a chance to spend some good quality time alone together. I know you cant force her to go, but just ask her if she will join you on one hunt. Let her bring a book or something else to do while waiting, that will keep her from being bored. let her bring a camera as well then she can get some pictures as well while your waiting. My wife isnt big on hunting and she doesnt care togo. Thats ok with me she knows what it means to me. She has how ever come out with me and helped track deer with me. The first time she came out to track abuck with me was about 2 years ago, I shot a nice 7 pointer late in the season and shevolunteered to help find it. So we went back out there, I found my arrow and some blood, no more than 15 feet we lost the blood, I told her to go straight and id make a small loop around to her. She no longer got to where I told her to go and she found puddles of blood.I could tell by the look on her face she actually enjoyed this. Well from there I let her lead the waysince her eyes are a bit better than mine (hehehe). She followed the blood right to the buck which was no more than 25 yards from where I shot it. She saw the joy on my faceand how much it meant to me to haveher with me out there. She gave a great big hug. She understands how much it means to meto be out there and truely be with Mother nature. Get her into the tradition, even if she doesnt like to hunt, take her withyou at least once. Its an exerience she wont ever forget. Especailly when you get a chance at a nice buck.

My wife used to think I was crazy (actually she still does) to go sit in the woods for hours waiting to see deer. Well a couple years ago, I started building flower beds for her, so she could watch the butterflies. Well one day a hummingbird showed up.....That did it! She would spend hours sitting there watching for these hummingbirds. One day she says to me
"Now I understand how you can sit there waiting to see something for hours. These damn hummingbirds, have me sitting here for hours" It was a beautiful day!

Hi I'm Mike and I'm a deeraholic,
I have a little advice for you take it for what its worth! Don't go overboard right now whith her hunt like you mean it because latter on if you stay together and marry she will exspect you to do the same. So break her in right now. Be careful on planning no wedding dates during hunting season make it before or after as this will screw you up every year not just for the wedding. Wives have a wierd thing about you being home on your anniversery. NO kids are to be born between Sep.- Dec. This is the worst You will have to sit home watching a bunch of screaming crumb grabbers when all you can think of is you know today is the day that big buck is walking by your stand and here you sit with a paper hat and a whistel. I could give you some more tips but think about these and I'll be back latter. I'v been Married 33 years and have avoided the above pit falls. Now i'm training the kids so no grand kids birthdays during hunting season.
Hey Bro what ever works for you just remember a lot of relationships have crashed because of this. If she's the one make sure it dosen't happen to you and remember funs fun but the family always comes first. Good Luck Mike

My husband was the same way when I met him. I even bought him a sign for a wedding gift that said, "We interupt this marriage to bring you deer season."
I finally decided, "If you can't beat them, join them!" This season will be my third year hunting with him, and I am just as addicted!!

I asked her if she would come out with me if I bought her the gear and everything. At first she sounded interested then I bought a couple hunting videos. After she saw a couple deer expire on film she wasn't so enthused, she almost looked like tears were going to form. So I might get her to come out during duck season with me, if she can handle the weather
.
I had toldher well before season that I was going to be hunting every weekend from the middle of september up until January or whenever I run out of tags. I am still trying to convince her to come out with me during the bow season. I think the first time she saw a deer i it's natural environment she would love it. Because the only thing I would take during bow season is a mature buck when she is there. I can hold off on the does until I am by myself.
She is actually taking it good. She didn't like when I went and put my Matthews on layaway though, because that is what she was going to get me for my birthday. Then later in the day I said in a sarcastic tone, well if you were going to spend that much why not pitch out a little more and get me an SBE2....she then got very upset because she actually planned on that next. So she is a trooper, I just have to get her out there so she knows what it is like.
