The dogs that I hate
Im 15 years old and this is the first year that I've ever gone bow hunting and its around 6:30 at night and Im sitting in a chair on the edge of a open field and out in the distance I see a deer and I dont know what it is yet so im waiting and it gets a little closer and I just had to fight the erge to screem in excitement its a buck a 4 pointer but it is a big 4 pointer it gets to about 20 yards out and 30 yards to the left so its out of range still and it turns and is walking up towards the back of the field. its moving I stand up and here comes 2 barking dogs that chase it away I was furious I HATE THOSE STUPED DOGS!

spinner,
You'll get another shot hang in there! You will run into all sorts of things that will test your patience in the deer woods......from motorbikes and ATVS , dogs (as you've seen), and other hunters, to hopefully not Anti-Hunters.
I was drawn to the title of your post because 2 weeks ago at a farm I hunt I had to listen to the neighbor's Blue Tick Hound baying in full throttle running loose all over the entire farm for 4 straight hours at prime time........you want to talk about trying a person's patience!
Keep at it, good luck and welcome to the forum.

What an experience you had there and must of been a tuff one to watch as those dogs came in a ran off the deer. I know you will get another crack at him just get out there and give it another shot. Better luck next time my friend.

RE: The dogs that I hate
Don't get me started on dogs. I love dogs--always have had one or more, but I don't like mixing them with my deer hunting! This year, I've been hunting a particular huge 8 point that beds on my property. I set up a stand about 6 weeks in advance of hunting him and left it alone. I finally went out there last week and snuck in very early. I heard him come in and bed right where I thought he did. Right after daylight, my neighbor's dogs came running through my woods barking and chasing squirrels like they do every day! When they got to about 20 yards from the deer's bed, they stopped, looked, and charged the bed which caused the deer to bolt away! I've already told them about this with no success, but I can't push the issue because they let me hunt a very thick area where LOTS of deer bed--a hotspot I don't want to give up!

Tough situation Dave, don't know the answer. Spinner, talk to the dogs owners if you know them and take your Dad with you in case they act like jerks. Hang in there young man, it will happen.

RE: The dogs that I hate
But I wouldn't have traded a minute fot that expieriance
The next night I saw a doe and a fawn as I was getting out of my stand so I snuck up to them and got to about 35 yrds and considered taking a shot at the doe but my sights are 10 20 30 and I dont want to injure it and leave it dead in the woods so I tried to get to 30 yards I get there the doe runs but the fawn stayed so I drew back and it ran
this was one of the best weekends of my lifd
