Dream Season - PA Team
By the show of hands, who didn't see something like this happening?
|
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
Being from the northeast I was pulling for them when they got in, but now I just want them to go away. That Was Garbage!! If the land owner gives you rules you stick to them or you leave. It is not rocket science. PS. They should have been booted after the drinking episode.
|
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
I'm sure the Drury boys know how it ends and the Pa team is in there cuz they will be critiqued in the end. They probably will do poorly and it will serve as a lesson for all. Bowhunters behaving badly!
|
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
I didn't see it, fill us in?
|
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
I agree they should have followed the rules set forth by the land owner. Next weeks show should be intresting...
|
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
The teams had permission to hunt a nice property in Oklahoma. Some dandy bucks. The land manager gave specific instructions for what to shoot, as he was hired to manage the deer and grow monster bucks. Team PA slammed a little basket rack, and really upset the guy. He cancelled the hunt for the last day, really upsetting the other teams. PA's argument was that any deer is a trophy, it doesn't have to be a monster. I agree. Every deer is a trophy to me, BUT when you get to hunt a nice place for free, it is only natural that you follow their rules. Anyway, that is the jist of hte fiasco.
|
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
I'm not a fan of Team PA, but in honesty, Perry from team MN shot a runt also. I'm not really a fan of any of the teams this year. Not sure why I still watch it?[&:]
|
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
I see, correct, any deer with a bow is a trophy especially in the eye of the beholder right but when given instructions by the landowner etc...rules need to be followed. These guys keep giving us PA'ers a black eye and I wonder if that will influence ever picking PA guys again?
|
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
"I'm not a fan of Team PA, but in honesty, Perry from team MN shot a runt also. I'm not really a fan of any of the teams this year. Not sure why I still watch it?"
BUT... (not making excuses) Perry from MN (according to the editing) shot his buck BEFORE Dr Woods and the other manager laid down the "NO 100 inchers" PA is right, any deer is a trophy and is in the eye of the beholder. they even kept refering to "well they told us to shoot what we wanted when we got here." Again with the BUT. When the rules were changed PA needed to heed the rules and shouldn't have shot that buck. The stress to produce for the show is probably greater than most of us can imagine, but when on someone else's property; no matter what anyone else has done, you have to follow the directions and rules the landowner, manager lay down. |
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
Buck fevered...exactly!
MN shot before the rule was handed down (according to the editing). I have to admit, I haven't seen all of the episodes from last year and if DS existed in 2004, I didn't see any of it. However, I believe the winner of Dream Season is not the team that takes the most deer or the biggest deer, the Drury's consider many other factors including, strategies, set-up, scouting, humanitarian efforts and ETHICS. So is there pressure to perform well? Undoubtedly. Is there pressure to kill deer? Most likely. Is there pressure to do whatever the heck you want - NO! Black eye to PA as a state, I don't think so. Black eye to sportmanships and a potential challenge to those who are asking for permission to hunt on someone else's property this year...maybe. These guys just showed that their wants and needs were greater than anyone elses - they basically gave the land manager the finger. They were BOTH at fault this time. |
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
Do you not see something like this happening in the WHA....on a REGULAR basis? (I would....if I were going to watch it).
Do you think that this contest.....the DS show....is good for hunting? Isnt this what we're (partly) afraid of with the WHA? Do you not want to thump this %$^&'ers ears for putting hunters (ALL OF US) in a bad light (Thank GOD no one else watches these type shows......en masse)? I honestly don't know how the Drury boys could pick these guys, though. "hey....we need you guys to be in Ohio, tomorrow to film a segment for us" (they get in the truck).. "Slim called....the rut's on in KS.....let's roll". Jeff |
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
I'm not making excuses for team PA, I would say they are the easiest to "dislike" of any. Maybe I missed the part of when exactly they laid down the law on the rack sizes. The whole show seems to be lacking something this year, its a little too "Survivor like" to me.

RE: Dream Season - PA Team
This season is definitely the worst. I don't know if I really like any of them. I guess if I had to choose a favorite so far it would be Kentucky just because they have stuck to their bows rather than switch to a gun to try to get an easier kill.
One thing about this season is the shooting competitions have been edited to the point they shouldn't even waste time having them. Are they all really that bad a shots? |
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
yes i agree with mom w/swd the first one was really good ., this one to me is what they want ., they want use to come back next week and see what will happen to team p.a.., if it is not what they want they will really have some poor reviews for this year on D.S.,. but im still a watching;)

RE: Dream Season - PA Team
you guys keep us posted on dream season i dont get to see it

RE: Dream Season - PA Team
I love the show personally. It is by far the best reality show on tv. There are a couple of things I don't like as much this year. I wish they would stick with whitetails. That is probably my biggest bitch. Team PA are a couple of cocky schmucks that don't deserve to even watch the show, much less be on it. I agree with some of you, they should have been booted after the drinking episode. Now this weeks, one of them was out gambling while his teammate killed a deer everyone was told specifically to not kill. I also agree with alot of you, a trophy is in the eyes of the beholder....BUT....this is a tv show. They were hunting on managed property and was told not to kill the "bacon....bring home the ham" as Dr woods said. I could rant about those jerkoff's all night but I guess I will quit now.

RE: Dream Season - PA Team
I don't even remember the Drury Brothers showing their faces on this episode.Usually they critque every team after a hunt.Wonder what happened to that?Love the show but those jackarses gotta go.
JE |
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
Yea, what a bunch of punks. They should be booted immediatly IMO. That's just a slap in the face to the hunting public. I hate to think how many of us good hunters would have give a toe to be living a dream like that, and some idiots can just abuse that. What a landowner says on his land goes, no matter what. Friggen losers! :D
|
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
the pa team are both idiots and i'm sure the drury's knew what they were doing. they added them two goofs to stir things up. i'm losing faith in brother mark and brother terry (i can't stand it when they call each other that!!!!!!!!!!!).
i still don't understand why the mn team shot that little buck. ok, so it had a goofy tine, so what! did you see how many deer were at that place!!!!!!!! |
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
I disagree in some ways. Yes you should respect the land owners wishes but in this situation it isn't like us normal hunters.
1) The land owner is selling these deer. Call it outfitting if you like but it is a bussness and the guys hunting is the customers. And can you honestly say if you payed for a hunt and you was on the last even of the hunt you would pass up a 110-120 class deer and go home empty handed? You might say they didn't pay for this but trust me someone somehow payed for this hunt and the landowner was getting something for it. 2) This is a compition whichI don't really like seeing hunting turned into but the simple fact of people wanting to win will play a large part of this and they don't want to pass up the chance for a good shot/kill on video. In short this whole show is a slap in the faces of true hunters and I think it is being scripted to cause more dramatics and you make you want to love a team or hate a team just so you will keep watching. Thats part of the TV world and is hardly reality TV. JMO Trytan |
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
1st of all,what the landowner says,goes. Period.
In the world of DS, shooting a 100-110 class buck is in deed, worse than not shooting one at all. These guys are being judged based on alot more than the deer they bring in. As long as the judging encompasses all things needed to be a good video host, and that is the goal right? Then I don't have a problem witht he competition, so much as the competitors and how they handle themselves. I havnt gotten to watch any of this season, but it does sound like they're pushing too far into the reality TV concept. |
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
Not to get off topic but that same night I was watching the outdoor channel I was wathcing Hunter Specalities. Stan Potts dropped a big 8pt in Kanas on private land nice quick and clean kill however his buddy Rick White missed a nice buck he took a 45 yard shot and shot right under the buck. Later the same morning in the same tree he gets another chance at a smaller but still shooter buck at 15 yards and shots right over the deers back. Then finally he got in Stans tree stand the same stand that Stan got the big 8 out of. Well a huge 9 come in about 10 yards behind some brush Rick comes to full draw rushes the shot hits a branch and smacks the deer way way far back this made me sick. Now I'm not trying to flame the guy, and I know everyone makes mistakes but it seem as if he rushed his shot, and this would be his 3rd mistake in one day. The video showed that they left the deer sit over night and the next morning then did find him, which was a big relief. Whats your guys take on this. Again I'm not trying to flame anyone, everyone makes mistakes heck even I have, the diffrenece is this was his 3rd in one day.

RE: Dream Season - PA Team
I saw a guy skip two arrows off the SAME mule deer's back the other night.......20 minutes apart. He seemed to be a very knowledgeable archer (knew his distance....and got the same shot at the same buck...twice).....and I told my wife right then....
I WOULD NOT TAKE ANOTHER SHOT WITH THAT BOW AT AN ANIMAL UNTIL I HAD IT CHECKED. Period. Jeff |
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
I seen that same show yesterday or the day before, can't remember.

In short this whole show is a slap in the faces of true hunters. Trytan Outfitting is more than a money making business. The deer heard has to be managed right to have those big bucks consistently year after year. If you kill the 100 - 120 class bucks you have created a hole that will hurt the heard in a few years. Those bucks they killed seemed to be 1.5 - 2.5 year old deer. They had good genetics to have antlers that size at that young. Now those good genetic bucks can't reproduce. It is a domino effect. That one messed up buck that MN took IMO was a good management buck. I personally wouldn't want those genes floating around in my ranch. I thought it was total disrespect that the PA team went against the wishes of the owners. Complete hacks if you ask me. |
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
I have posted about the Penn. team and my feelings on them since this seasons shows started and they sure haven't changed any. I couldn't stand them right away, especially the "drunk" ( as he is known on here). I did have respect for the other guy when he wouldn't take the drunk out in the woods, and figured that I would give him a fair chance and see how he turns out to be. Well, as most of you feel and me and my buddies all feel, he has turned out to be a real idiot also. I think that he is really an argumentitive smart aleck. What killed me about this weeks episode is how they said that he wasn't at the morning or evening team meetings that they had where the outfitter and Dr. Woods asked the specifically to not take the smaller deer but to take the 125" and up bucks. Then when they pulled the plug on the hunt because his little drunk buddy shot a tweener ( after he already had earlier) , he stood there and argued with the lady from team Texas that they never said that. The idiot wasn't even there because he was at the casinos. They are a very poor representation if you ask me. Me and a co worker just talked about it today. We bothe said that we would love to have the opportunity that these guys had, and we already take our hunting so seriously and would even more with the competition on the line, and these two are more worried about drinking or going to a casino. It amazes me. I just don't get it, but from what I have seen from these guys, it doesn't suprise me a bit.
I hate to say it, since Team Illinois are posting members here, but I have kind of switched my vote to Team Kentucky. I have read where other guys have said that Team Illinois have really seemed to be alot cockier than they appeared at first. It just seems like Team Kentucky just reallyseem to have a great attitude and really have the right idea about what it is all about( even with their incredible bouts of bad luck). Kust like last night, when they stopped the hunt, team Penns. and Ill. were going on about being mad because they did it and that they still had the tag etc. Then the Kentucky boys spoke up that they were disgusted to be a part of it because of what had happened, and Louis Payne said that he would have pulled the plug long before they actually did. That was pretty cool to me. The were upset that the stuff happened to have the hunt cancelled, not that they couldn't hunt in the morning. Just my opinion. Sorry Team Ill., I have given you several votes over the past weeks, but as of right now I am voting for Kentucky. I just really think they are a couple good ol boys who really get it. And as said before, I hope Mark and Terry really rip the Penns. jerks at the end when they critique them and use them as an object lesson of how not to be as a hunter.;) |
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
I don't understand how the PA guy's have their priorities all jacked up. They went there to hunts and that is what they should be doing. I can understand winding down with 2-3 beers and going over the footage for that day. But getting plastered and staying up all night???? And going to the casino???? What a couple of jerkoff's. Sorry for another rant. Seems like every time somebody posts about these two moroons, it gets me fired up again.

RE: Dream Season - PA Team
Tree hunter.
Totaly agree with you about the post about the MN guys taking that Junk Buck. If I managed a place like that I wouldn't that thing running around my place. |
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
I'm voting for Team Kentucky, they seem to have good ethics and are representing the hunting community well. Not to mention they are from my home state and in reality a couple of really good, down to earth people. I hope they actually get a couple good deer down.

RE: Dream Season - PA Team
Hi, sorry you guy's hate us so bad..If we pissed off anyone sorry,it wasn't are intenions...we love to hunt and we hunt hard.Just remember you don't see everything on TV..Yes we set are selves up for failure we gave them lot's to work with but we were not the only ones to do this, they chose us to run with..That's are fault we let it happen,Sorry for that... The thing that kill's me is all the good we did, that they don't show..My partner didn't go to the casino, I just said that becausehe was unable to hunt because of A hernia that he had all season.I didn't want to show weakness to the other teams..pluss we had A camera man with us..You'll see in weeks to come what I'm talking about..Once again I'm sorry for anyone who took things personal.

RE: Dream Season - PA Team
^^^^ Grabs a bag of popcorn, this should be good.
|
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
Anybody notice how they didn't get real excited over shooting those big B&C bucks last night? Even after they got all excited for shooting a 110" buck in previous episodes? And they claimed they were driving but that buck seemed to be just walking along casually. Something don't smell right to me.
|
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
team pa shot a170in buck today and thas the bigest buck in dream seasons history
|
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
I guess it will be interesting to see when I get back from Japan.
Too bad I can't get the Outdoor Channel here. |
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
THE DRINKING EPISODE REMINDED ME OF THAT SONG- THE SECOND WEEK OF DEER CAMP. SOUND FAMILIAR? TEAM P.A. AND DREAM SEAON GAVE HUNTERS ANOTHER BLACK EYE. LIKE WE NEEDED THAT!
|
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
I was finally able to view last week's show.
I am not really impressed with viewing deer drives, even if they take a 175 class buck. I don't careif people do them. Iunderstand they are effective. I understand they are legal. I'd just rather view other tactics. Personally, I prefer viewing archery hunts from elevated platforms, or archery stalks. |
RE: Dream Season - PA Team
Drurys are both seemingly good guys. They produce what are, hands down, my favorite videos. My partners and I watch all of them every year, but...
Whitetail hunting is not a team sport. Any attempt to make it be a team sport is probably going to have poor results. It adds a cheap artificial element to the whole wonderful process of hunting. I enjoyed the Drurys older stuff much more; the days when they were truly excited to just get a decent buck. |
