Default How far to your stand?

Im hunting public land, so Im pretty far in the woods to stay away from other hunters. I have a good 3/4 mile hike to my stand on opening day. Ive gone back there so much that I can practically do it with my eyes closed. How far do you guys have to hike?

100 yards from my front door.Had major back surgery last year and put a ladder stand up befor I was cut so I could at least get out of the house during the season. I got lucky and took a nice 8 pt. with an inside spread of 17 3/4 and grossed 111". Not a book deer but nice in my book.

nice deer. Is it the one in your avatar? If so, I wouldn't think twice about shooting it.

Depends where I am hunting. In my neighborhood I hunt 30 yds from the house. At the farm I may walk close to 3\4 of a mile to get to my stand also, but some are only 50 yds from where I park.

I hunt public land also and from where I park my tuck to my treestand is about 5280 feet of rough turain.
When I hunt up north on state land I try to set my stand up not to far away from where I have to park.

Ryan,
That was my first deer ever. I took him back on 10/11/1986. He dressed out @ 305 lbs. after taking a 5 gal. bucket of fat out of his body cavity. It was hot and I had to get him cooled down befor I took him to the taxidermist. If I could figure out how to attach pics to post I would show you last years guy. Every time I try to post one it says the file is too large.[:@]

You need to compress your pics to post them. If you have somewhere to edit them you should be able to do it there. Cropping may also help. I am not an expert, but have figured it out. Good luck.

About 50 yards from my door to the nearest one , and not over 150 yards to the farthest one . Living in a woods that deer have to cross through absolutely rocks !
