Default dipping and cresting..

this winter i would like to get into building my own arrows. i was thinking though.....if i dip and crest them wont i add weight?? how much weight does a typical dipping and cresting job add?? will that add too much weight to the rear of the arrow and mess up flight?? just curious. i think hand crested arrows with nice feathers look awesome...just dont wanna screw things up......

It will add some weight but if your FOC gets to low then you can add more point weight to keep it at an acceptable level. It probably won't add enough weight to make a difference unless your arrows had a low FOC to begin with.
