DREAM SEASON
I just caught the last half of the show this AM as I was leaving for work. Team Pa shot a nice buck, but it was smaller and younger. The hunter was very happy, but it appeared he had to explain himself to the others and that killing a younger/smaller deer was frowned upon by some.
Am I missing something here? It was almost like some were sickened and some were laughing at him. |
RE: DREAM SEASON
The name of the game on Dream Season is catching BIG bucks on film. The drury's are notorious for their age based selective hunting. The other contestants may have beenexpecting a lashing from the brothers....

RE: DREAM SEASON
What did the Drury's do about the drunk on the show. I missed the episode what happened?

RE: DREAM SEASON
i thought that they thought the outfitters would be mad at them, not as much the drury bros. one team basically said 'screw them, it's a trophy to me'. i liked that attitude.

RE: DREAM SEASON
I think that the guy that owns the land is managing it for monster bucks and wasn't to happy about them killing the smaller bucks. His land His rules. The preview for next week show them getting told not to shoot the smaller bucks but they said that someone does anyway so I can't wait to see what happens to that person.

RE: DREAM SEASON
As with any sport the higher the score determines who wins. Deer hunting as a sport is no exception...the older the deer typically the better it will "score" on the boone and crocket or pope and young charts. I like the guys attitude. I remember here in WV, if someone killed a deer, buck or doe, with a bow it was exciting. Now everyone is a "professional". Anything less than an eight point with under 16" spread is an embarressment. BDC |
RE: DREAM SEASON
I'm glad they stood up to 'em... but you can only thumb your nose at a show's producers so much before getting kicked off...
Although they may be using it for ratings... conflict boosts ratings... |
RE: DREAM SEASON
I think the team screwed up, they are hunting on a property that is under strict management. If i was the owner i would be very upset. Dumb decision on that teams part.
BTW, the drurys DREAM SEASON isnt undera points system. Its wasnt that they said it was an embarresment the guy was MANAGING this property for old big deer. They were upset because of that, they never said the guy was an embaressment. Get your facts straight |
RE: DREAM SEASON
No one ever said the Dream Season was on a point system or that the guy was an ebarassment.
It was a simple comparison to professional hunters and ameture hunters. Learn to read. |
RE: DREAM SEASON
I have no problem with that attitude. Perhaps the land had some nice bucks, and the manager wanted them to wait one out. Perhaps the owners wanted them to take "monster" bucks so they could market the ranch. Hey, every deer I shoot, horns or no horns is a trophy to me.

RE: DREAM SEASON
I look at it like this, if somebody invites you to hunt his land and tells you not to shoot small bucks then you should abide by those standards. I'm ameat hunter but I've had permission to hunt on some land that had similar rules and on the days that I hunted these properties I was a trophy hunter.

RE: DREAM SEASON
I've seen this show twice. I don't care for it. It doesn't seem like hunting when you have people competing against each other. You start getting where people start saying, " I better take something so we don't lose". They don't care what it is. Seems to lose respect for the animal.

RE: DREAM SEASON
It's a good thing those two teams shot those deer it would have been a pretty boring hunting show if not because they didn't see any trophy bucks that's for sure. I'm pretty sure with there time alotted to hunt and there limited knowledge of the land and area there odd's of taking a "trophy" was slim to none. Good for them in taking some quality deer to be honest I would rather see a hunting show were average guys shoot deer like that more often.

RE: DREAM SEASON
Everybody buy a buck growl and I promise it will be alright.
|
RE: DREAM SEASON
The attitude of the hunter defending himself for shooting a small deer stinks. Just shows you how much respect some people have for the rules created by the landowner. I would have run the group out of town. They must must respect the wishes of the landowner. If that property wasn't for sale I am sure that owner would have stopped the hunt just based upon the attitude of the guy killing the little deer.
He just didn't care that the landowner said large old animals only!!! |
RE: DREAM SEASON
Yea, I think they should be booted off the show. To go against the landowners rules is a smack in the face to all deer hunters. Makes us look real good to the next LO we asked permission to hunt. Just immature and stupid.
